In her acceptance speech, Nozawa expressed genuine surprise at being chosen for the award, stating, “I’m incredibly happy to receive such a wonderful award, but I think there must be someone more deserving than me“.

However, the highlight of the speech was when Nozawa revealed her ambitious plan for the future, expressing her intention to continue voice acting until the age of 182.

I love the job of a voice actor. I plan to continue until I’m 182 years old.”

Talking about where the number 182 came from, Nozawa said that even though it came out of the left field, it was a number that she quite liked.

The number ‘182’ came up suddenly, but it’s a number I quite like. I want to live until 182 and speak words that everyone can hear, or rather, I absolutely want to do that.

Apart from Son Goku, Masako Nozawa also voiced Son Gohan, & Son Goten in the Dragon Ball franchise. She has also voiced Tetsuro Hoshino (Galaxy Express 999) and Kitaro (GeGeGe no Kitaro), as well as Doraemon in the 1973 anime, replacing Kōsei Tomita, who voiced the character in the first 26 episodes.

Throughout her career as a voice actress, she has performed many male roles, leading Japanese fans to give her the nickname “The Eternal Boy”.

Moreover, she is also going to reprise her role as Goku in the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime.
