Atsushi Ohkubo‘s Fire Force manga ended on Monday, Feb 21, 2022, in the 13th issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine. Congratulatory messages poured in from authors of various manga including Ken Wakui, George Morikawa, Hiromu Arakawa, and others.
Authors presented their messages with a tribute art on “shikishi-s (signature plates)” which are featured in this week’s Shonen magazine.
The shikishis below feature tributes from Mashima Hiro (Edens Zero), Morikawa Jôji (Hajime no Ippo), Arakawa Hiromu (Fullmetal Alchemist), Seo Kôji (HALF&HALF), Terajima Yûji (Ace of Diamond), Suzuki Nakaba (Seven Deadly Sins), Oh! Great (Air Gear), Ôtaka Shinobu (Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic), Miyajima Reiji (Rent a Girlfriend), Wakui Ken (Tokyo Revengers), Ôima Yoshitoki (To Your Eternity), Yamamoto Sôichirô (Teasing Master Takagi-san) Nomura Yûsuke (Blue Lock), Hideki (She Adopted a High School Boy), Fuji Ryôsuke (Shangri-La Frontier), Hiroyuki (Kanojo mo Kanojo), Yoshikawa Miki (Yamada and the Seven Witches), Kuze Ran (Tenshin: World War Angel), Naitô Marcey (Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi), Haruba Negi (The Quintessential Quintuplets), Yasuda Tsuyoshi (Days), Suzumoto Kô (Fate/Grand Order Anthology Comic: Star), Tsukiyama Kaya (Area no Kishi), Urana Kei (Gachiakuta), and Inaki Tomohiro (Second Break!!)



Some of the messages are as follows:
“Thank you for your hard work on completing the manga. Now let’s go for a drink soon.”

“Congratulations on completing Fire Fore. Thank you for your hard work!! I am looking forward to another blasting manga from you!!”
Suzuki Nakaba (Seven Deadly Sins)
The other shikishi-s also feature similar messages from the creators congratulating Ohkubo on completing Fire Force and encouraging words of “Thank you for your hard work!!”.
In the same issue, Ohkubo bid goodbye to readers and indicated that he has passed the baton to newcomer Kei Urana, creator of the series, Gachi Akuta.
Urana, who is Ohkubo’s former assistant, thanked him for his hard work and said that he was thrilled to feature in the same issue with Ohkubo.
“I’m thrilled that Ohkubo-sensei’s work, which I’ve admired since junior high school, is coming to an end, and that we’ll be appearing together in this commemorative issue. Thank you for your hard work,” Urana’s comment at the end of the issue read.
Ohkubo’s Fire Force manga serialized for six years and collected into thirty-two tankobon volumes as of Dec 2021. The final volume of the series will be shipped in May this year.
Fire Force manga currently has 17.5 million copies in circulation.
An anime television series adaptation by David Production aired from July to December 2019 on the MBS’s Super Animeism block. A second season aired from July to December 2020. The anime has been licensed by Funimation.
