For fans of Re:Zero anime, the wait between two consecutive seasons has historically been a lengthy one. The third season, which recently concluded, aired a full four years after the second season. This was the same as the gap between the first and second seasons.
However, in a piece of welcome news for the dedicated fanbase, the wait for the fourth season of Re:Zero is expected to be significantly shorter.
Right after the third season concluded, it was confirmed that Re:Zero season 4 is in production. On top of that Subaru Natsuki’s voice actor, Yuusuke Kobayashi specified in his comment that fans won’t have to four years for the next instalment of the anime.

“You thought you’d have to wait another four years?! We won’t make you wait!! And so, the production of Season 4 has been decided!“
Rie Takahashi, the voice actress for Emilia, also noted the unprecedented nature of Season 4’s announcement.
“Even with Re:Zero continuing up to the 3rd season, this is actually the first time that the announcement of a sequel has been made right after the broadcast of a season… I think the impact of the final episode is quite significant, but first, let’s rejoice in this announcement as a reward! Victory!!!!“
According to rumors circulating within the Re:Zero fandom, the recently concluded Season 3 was initially intended to cover the entirety of Arc 6 from the light novels.
This was reportedly planned as the second cour (second half) of the third season. However, due to production constraints and scheduling issues, a decision was made to dedicate the Arc 6 content to its own standalone fourth season.
This suggests that work on Re:Zero Season 4 has likely been underway for some time, possibly even concurrently with the airing of Season 3.
As a result, fans can anticipate a much shorter wait for the continuation of Subaru’s tumultuous journey in another world, with the release date for Season 4 expected to be considerably closer than the typical four-year interval.
The third season of Re:Zero had a total of 16 episodes, with the second cour starting to air in February 2025.
White Fox returned to animate the third season with Masahiro Shinohara at the helm of the series. He replaced Masaharu Watanabe, who had directed the previous season of Re:Zero anime. Tappei Nagatsuki is supervising the anime.
