A brand-new Code Geass anime project, titled Code Geass: Hoshi Oi No Aspal (Code Geass: Aspal The Star Chaser), has been announced to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
The announcement was made on Dec 7 during the “Code Geass Project ‘To 20th’ Event”, where multiple commemorative initiatives were revealed.
The new anime will be directed by Kazuya Nomura (Ghost In The Shell: The New Movie, Moriarty The Patriot, Heavenly Delusions), with Mado Nozaki handling series composition, Rolua designing the characters, and Yoshi. in charge of Agarmatha designs.
The project promises an original story set within the expanding Code Geass universe, marking the first major new narrative since 2024’s Rozé Of The Recapture.
A visual was revealed alongside the announcement.

In addition to the new project, Sunrise confirmed that Code Geass: Rozé Of The Recapture, which premiered in Japanese theaters in 2024 and is currently streaming on Disney+, will air on television as a 12-episode broadcast beginning July 2026.
The anniversary event also revealed that an exhibition dedicated to the series will take place in Tokyo in September 2026 and in Osaka in November 2026.
The franchise will also collaborate with Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, which marked its 30th anniversary in 2025, to produce a crossover manga illustrated by Satoshi Ogasawara.

Fans will also be able to revisit the original story from the beginning. The full 50-episode TV series of Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion will be streamed for free on YouTube starting Dec 28, continuing through June 30, 2026, with two episodes released weekly.
Moreover, the event also unveiled a new key visual for the previously announced stage play Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion – Seido ni Jyunzuru Kishi 2 (A Knight Who Follows His Beliefs 2). The musical will run in Osaka from Jan 23–25, followed by Tokyo from Jan 29 to Feb 1.
It is a sequel to the musical Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion, which premiered in September 2023.

Directed by Goro Taniguchi and written by Ichiro Okouchi, the Code Geass franchise began in 2006 with the 25-episode Lelouch Of The Rebellion, followed by the 25-episode sequel R2 in 2008. The series featured original character designs by CLAMP.
The series has since expanded into various media, including manga adaptations, games, and stage productions.
Initiation, Transgression, and Glorification, a three-part compilation film recapping the events of both anime series’ seasons while also altering storylines for various characters and establishing an alternate universe, was released between 2017 and 2018.
An original film titled Code Geass Lelouch of the Re;surrection, taking place after the Zero Requiem of the film trilogy’s alternate universe, was released in theaters in February 2019.
