Black Clover Movie Unveils New Trailer & 2 More Cast Members

Black Clover movie will hit the Japanese theatres on March 31, 2023.

Black Clover panel at Jump Festa 2023 dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming movie, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, on Dec 17, 2022. The trailer previews the new theme song for the film, “Here I Stand,” performed by TREASURE.

In addition to the trailer, the staff also revealed two new voice cast that’ll voice former Wizard Kings.

Newly announced voice cast includes:

  • Miuki Sawashiro as Princia, 11th Wizard King

  • Hochu Otsuka as Edward, 20th Wizard King

It was previously revealed that Marie Iitoyo and Fumiya Takahashi will voice two movie original characters Millie Maxwell and Jester respectively.

Black Clover movie will hit the Japanese theatres on March 31, 2023, and will also be distributed worldwide on Netflix.

The film is being directed by Ayataka Tanemura at Studio Pierrot, with screenplay by Johnny Otoda and Ai Orii. Itsuko Takeda will serve as the character designer, and  Minako Seki in charge of music. Yuki Tabata will also be supervising the film and provide original character designs.

Yūki Tabata‘s Black Clover has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since February 2015, with its chapters collected in 30 tankōbon volumes as of October 2021.

The plot follows Asta, a young boy born without any magic power. This is unknown to the world he lives in because seemingly everyone has some sort of magic power. With his fellow mages from the Black Bulls, Asta plans to become the next Wizard King.

The manga was first adapted into an original video animation produced by Xebec Zwei, released in 2017. An anime television series adaptation produced by Pierrot, aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from October 2017 to March 2021.
