Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus, the One Piece celebrated its 25th year of serialization in 2022. Starting from its first chapter in 1997, the shonen manga has never ceased to amaze us with each passing chapter.

The ever-expanding anime has some incredibly good world-building, amazing characters, and the quirkiest of laughs. Yet another interesting part of the manga is the presence of the devil fruits.

Devil fruits are one of the best systems of power scaling that has been created as it does not depend on the individual’s lineage or genetics or even on the family that he was born into.

It’s just a stroke of luck – a nobody could get the most broken devil fruit and the wealthiest could get a devil fruit with the most inane ability.

Before we divulge into the limit of the devil fruits, know that the devil fruits were ranked based on the power of the fruit itself, and to do that we will assume that all the fruits were eaten by people with similar physical prowess and intellect.

So if we consider 100 as the peak stat, the humans considered here are above average. So, let’s say 75 would be the physical prowess stat and intelligent stat of the devil fruit users. Even though Haki is present in every individual, we need to consider all the user’s as base stat Haki users as higher proficiency of the same will greatly affect how the fruits’ ability to function.

Strongest Devil Fruits in One Piece:

Now let us see the devil fruits that can be considered the most powerful in the world. Non-Canon devil fruits will not be considered and this list is a personal opinion of the writer. With that being said, Ikuzoo Minnaa!!

20. Mera Mera no Mi

Kicking things off and taking the 20th spot in our list of strongest devil fruits is the Logia class devil fruit that turns the fruit user into a flame human, the Mera Mera no Mi. The fruit grants the user the elemental ability to control flames, conjure them and shoot fire blasts from their fists (any part of their body).

Like a normal devil fruit, the Mera Mera no mi also increases the physical prowess of the user, making them stronger than the average human.

The fruit even though a logia class is inferior to its variant – the Magu Magu no mi as normal flames are easily negated by the molten lava or in the case of the manga, do not fight a superior variant, you’ll end up with a donut hole.

19. Bari Bari no Mi

The Bari Bari no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit that makes the consumer a barrier human. The devil fruit can create a single plain barrier that is transparent and glass-like with a crossing finger gesture. The barriers can be convoluted into various shapes and sizes depending on the user’s wish and the barriers the devil fruit can create are nearly impermeable.

The Bari Bari no Mi is a devil fruit that specializes in defense-type attacks while fighting with the use of its powerful barriers. However, the same barriers can be used in a very creative way to attack depending on the imagination of the user.

The Bari Bari no Mi’s ability to withstand powerful blows without shattering puts the devil fruit in the contest for being a powerful fruit. Bari Bari no Mi is also one of the few devil fruits in the series shown to have a previous user of the fruit.

18. Shiku Shiku no Mi

The Shiku Shiku no Mi or the Sick Sick fruit is a devil of the Paramecia order that makes you into a sick human. The description does not do justice to its set of abilities, here’s why – the fruit lets you conjure up the most insane medical condition known to man.

The fruit has the power to even change the biological gender of the species just by wishing i.e., by creating a feminization disease. The fruit does so by considering the apparent change in the sex as a disease, and its known cure is only a powerful will/haki.

The user can imagine a deadly viral disease outbreak among the enemies as the apparent range of the fruit is pretty wide and also understand when the power has been countered. The last part is important here because it is a weakness of this fruit i.e., if a cure is found for the disease, the disease will stop acting on all the affected individuals.

The only reason it is so low on this list is that the full potential of the fruit is yet to be seen

17. Suna Suna no Mi

The Suna Suna no Mi or the Sand Sand fruit is a devil fruit of the Logia class that makes the user a sand human, allowing the user to freely control sand in the earth.

The Suna Suna no Mi, along with providing the common abilities that come along with being logia, the sand fruit has a unique ability that lets the user absorb the moisture from any living organism rendering the opponent dry and frail. It is not known if the absorbed moisture helps the user, but it sure incapacitates the enemy.

In virtue of being a logia fruit, the user can freely manipulate the sand and its power will be increased when used in a desert setting where there is an abundance of sand and a lack of water. The Suna Suna no Mi is far down the list because of the simplicity through which the weakness of the fruit can be exploited.

16. Soru Soru no Mi

The Soru Soru no Mi is a paramecia-type devil fruit that allows the human who consumed to become a soul human allowing them the ability to manipulate the souls of any living organisms.

The user can grab the soul of the individual, and pull out souls effectively lessening the life span of the individual equal to the soul extracted from the body. The stolen lifespan can be used as power up for the user or can be converted into a soul and can be implanted into inanimate objects giving them consciousness.

The user can also add their soul to natural calamities and gain authority over them – imagine having authority over magma, tornadoes, and whatnot. This fruit is a powered-up Kage Kage no Mi.

The abilities of Soru Soru no mi feel pretty broken, however, there is one major drawback in it. The user can only draw out the souls of the people who fear the user. The reason why it was soo effective for Big Mom is because people feared her. However, the same cannot be said for every user who consumes it, making it an extreme hit or miss case.

15. Doku Doku no Mi

Doku Doku no Mi or the poison poison fruit is a paramecia-type devil fruit that turns the user into a poison human being able to concoct and control poison at will. The user can generate poisons of varying toxicity from numbing agents to toxins that can be corrosive to touch.

The poison generated from the fruit can also be in the gaseous form, increasing the area of effect of the fruit.

The more proficient the user of the fruit is, the more poison he can concentrate and give monstrous shapes to the poison. The poison also allows for a special mode of transportation, allowing the user to glide through the poison by forming poison tubes.

The drawback of the fruit is that even though immune to the fruit, the user cannot process the poison in his body, leading to excessive diarrhea. There are questions about the range of the fruit too, making it hard to rank the fruit anywhere above.

14. Hobi Hobi no Mi

Hobi Hobi no Mi is a devil fruit of the paramecia order that grants some completely unrelated abilities to the user turning them into a ‘broken powerhouse human’. The fruit once consumed grants the power of converting people into toys by touching them and having control over them.

Along with turning them into toys, the memories of the person’s existence will also be erased once the human gets turned into a toy. If these weren’t enough, the one who consumes the fruit will remain eternally fixed to the age they consume the fruit in.

A plethora of power that turns the user very OP is the ability of the Hobi Hobi no Mi.

The fruit is strong and would certainly have made it to the top 10 in this list of strongest devil fruits if not for one glaring weakness – the touch of the user to convert the person into a toy is a must.

If the opponent is aware of the Hobi Hobi no Mi’s powers, they can just avoid coming into contact with them. It basically turns into a game of Tag, and if they can’t keep up, the user of the Hobi Hobi no Mi will be defeated easily.

The Hobi Hobi no Mi also grants user eternal youth, making the speed and the age at which the individual eats the fruit very important.

Also, while their ability lets them control a large number of converted toys, the user only needs to be knocked out for their control over the toys to go, which sometimes can be quite easy.

When you consider all these downsides, the fruit suddenly doesn’t sound very OP, and hence it comes in at number 14 in our list of strongest devil fruits.

13. Uo Uo no Mi: Model Seiryu

The first devil fruit that falls in the category of Mythical Zoan on this list is the Uo Uo no Mi Model Seiryu or the Fish Fish fruit is a devil fruit that turns the consumer into an Azure Dragon. This also is the largest Zoan transformation shown in the One Piece world.

The fruit grants the user elemental powers allowing the user to use heat blasts and scythes made of wind. By transforming into a dragon, the user has the ability to fly, and since it is a Fish Fish fruit, it also grants them ability to breathe underwater, countering the major disadvantage to devil fruits to some extent.

Not just that, the Uo Uo no Mi grants user tremendous destructive powers, being able to whip up storms that can uproot cities on whole.

The defensive powers of the fruit can also commendable, as turning into a dragon comes with the user gaining a tough outer body and all.

Okay, before you all come at me, let me give you the reasons why the fruit is outside the top 10. The elemental attacks of the fruit albeit powerful, are uni-directional meaning that anyone with a devil fruit that lets you move around fairly quickly like the Wapu Wapu, Nikyu Nikyu, or even use skywalk to get away from the area of effect.

The flame cloud the azure dragon gets is also directly proportional to the stamina of the user meaning a user with low stamina will have a hard time conjuring the clouds to walk upon. The fruit is a very demanding one – meaning that only a strong individual can bring out the true potential of the fruit, and a weak user will have a hard time controlling the fruit.

12. Tori Tori no Mi

With one of the most beautiful devil fruit transformations, the Tori Tori no Mi model Phoenix or the Bird Bird Fruit Model Phoenix is a rare devil fruit that turns the user into a Phoenix human. Tori Tori no Mi is a mythical Zoan that acts like a logia class fruit and covers the body in a blue flame (stronger than the normal flames) that makes the body intangible.

The blue flame doesn’t not only heal direct melee attacks; it also can heal itself from harm inflicted by sea stone weapons which are rare in the world of One Piece. Resilience and regeneration are the main highlights of this zoan fruit. Blue healing flames can also be used to treat other people but the healing won’t be that potent also the healing abilities are not absolute and do not make the user immortal.

Finding a balance between saving stamina and using the flames in a fight is a hard task, making the fruit hard to master.

11. Mori Mori no Mi

The Mori Mori no Mi is a Logia class devil fruit that turns the human into a forest human, granting the user the ability to grow and control vines and plant life. The fruit enables the user to take on properties of plant life making them a living forest.

Being a forest human, the user is also able to create plant life with every step and also regenerate from a single sapling. The Mori Mori no Mi is a fruit that is suited best for a long-range attack as the area of effect the user can influence using the vines, plant life and roots are wide.

The Mori Mori no Mi has the unique skill of being able to trap in its vines and suck out the life force of the enemy in a battle.

The life force drained acts as a source of nourishment for the user allowing him to go without consuming conventional food for years together. Mori Mori no Mi is 11th on the list because as we go up the order, the devil fruits start getting potent and the full potential of this fruit hasn’t been revealed yet.

10. Zushi Zushi no Mi

Entering the second half of the list, we start with paramecia class devil fruit that grants the power of gravity manipulation is the Zushi Zushi no Mi. The Stomp Stomp devil fruit grants you the ability to control gravitational forces allowing the user to manipulate the gravity acting on a body.

The fruit allows you to increase the gravitational force acting upon a body or completely negate the force on the body. The area of effect of the devil fruit seems to be quite large as it allows the user to summon a literal meteorite from space to attack enemies.

The fruit also allows for the user’s gravity to be altered making it possible for him to sway horizontally or vertically mid-air. Zushi Zushi no Mi can be used for gaining the ability to glide by negating the gravity acting on the object. The fruit requires good concentration as a slight waver can affect the effects exuded by the user.

The fact that it can restrict the movements of the roots of the forest forest fruit puts this fruit above it on the list. As we continue to the top 10 strongest devil fruits, know that these fruits in the upper echelon are powerful fruits with incredible destructive potential. Minute details are the factors that rank a fruit below or above the others.

9. Gasu Gasu no Mi

Next up in our list of strongest devil fruits is the logia fruit turns the fruit into a gas human allowing the user to manipulate gases in the atmosphere, making it one of the broken devil fruit out there in the One Piece world. The fruit grant the ability to create and control gases at the will of the user.

Within a particular area the user will be able to freely control the gases – for example let us take oxygen; the user can decrease or increase the volume of Oxygen in the area rendering all the enemies unconscious or even killing them. This goes for concocting other deadly gases including hallucinogens too.

But as said there is apparent weakness in the fruit, the first being the area of effect is not too large and the second being the gaseous form being susceptible to fire. They can also be countered by fruits with long range attacks.

Other than this, the Gas Gas fruit is extremely potent and justifies its inclusion in the list of strongest devil fruits.

8. Hie Hie no Mi

The Hie Hie no Mi is the coolest (bad pun?) devil fruit in this list because it lets its user overcome the natural downside of devil fruits, which is water.

Hie Hie no Mi is a logia class devil fruit that gives the user the power of ice control. It turns the user into a Freezing human with attack power that can affect a large area – possibly the largest.

The user can generate freezing ice-based attacks that can freeze entire oceans at ease and also incapacitate large moving targets. Being a freeze human, this is a unique devil fruit that hardens the body of the user rather than making it permeable and unfortunately, this also applies to the regeneration, making it a slow process in case the user has any part cut off.

As the area of effect is super wide, this fruit makes it easy to restrain enemies without fighting by instantly freezing them. Finally, this is also the only devil fruit that can naturally counteract the standard weakness by freezing the waters and escaping drowning.

Freeze human is 8^th on the list owing to the superior prowess of the fruits higher up the order and in no way is Hie Hie no Mi a weak fruit.

7. Magu Magu no Mi

Magu Magu no Mi the devil fruit with the highest offensive powered fruit in the One Piece world giving it a heightened destructive potential. It is considered to be an upgrade on the Mera Mera no Mi and naturally ranks above it.

The magma that the fruit can produce has the power of incineration, so upon touch, the one affected will be the attacker themselves. Like many other devil fruits that affect the environment, this fruit leaves a wake of devastation as it moves through the world.

It was tough to compare both Hie Hie and Magu Magu no mi as both of them seemed par on paper. Ice and Magma are natural enemies, and if they go up against each other, it’ll most probably be a stalemate. While Hie Hie has advantage on water, the Magu Magu has the upper hand when it comes to destructive abilities.

However, for the time being, we decided to keep Magu Magu on top because it fruit does not have an apparent weakness that can be exploited other than the devil fruits up in the order and by having a strong haki.

So yeah, basically an indestructible fruit at 7^th place.

6. Pika Pika no Mi

Coming next in our list is the devil fruit of the logia order that empowers the user with the power of light – the Pika Pika no Mi or the Glint Glint fruit. The fruit grants the power to manipulate light by turning the consumer into a light human.

The overpowered ability set comes with the body transforming into light itself, allowing the user to travel long distances in a matter of seconds and outrun any weapons cache before it can even come close. They can also catch their opponents unawares thanks to their speed. The fruit also allows for complete regeneration and grants the ability to conjure up weapons made of light itself.

As seen in Sabaody and later in Marineford the user can also shoot beams of light/laser which causes massive explosions. The fruit seems heavily nerfed in the series, thanks to Bolsonaro. Also, there are some who speculate that the fruit might not let users tranform entirely into light, because it is called the Glint Glint fruit not Light (Hikari).

Being light, the user can only attack in a straight line making it easy to deflect or refract the attacks and darkness can be a natural enemy of light (unless you are Escanor), making the fruit 6th on this list of strongest devil fruits.

As we move into the top 5 of this list, know that all of the devil fruits that appear henceforth are almost equally strong (except maybe the 1st one) and can be rearranged in different places of the top 5. That said, let’s check which ones they are.

5. Yami Yami no Mi

Absorbing the devil fruit powers into the 5^th position on our list is the Yami Yami no Mi – a logia class devil fruit that grants the ability of darkness manipulation by turning the eater into a darkness human. The fruit can absorb and nullify the effects of other devil fruits rendering them ineffective.

The fruit can pull people towards you regardless of the devil fruit form of the opponent. It can also create black holes that can swallow everything into a pocket dimension over a large area and can regurgitate them at will.

Interestingly, as logia, Yami Yami no Mi is the only devil fruit that lets its user attain damage when attacked with a non-Haki-based attack (I think it’s because of its constant exposure to light). This is a glaring disadvantage as far as we are concerned.

Blackbeard is able to tank the attacks made on him because his resilience is off the charts, however, the fruit wouldn’t have been as effective if it were eaten by someone weaker.

For the nullification to work, the user has to physically touch the opponent making it a hard prerequisite, and the ability to not achieve a body through which attacks phase like normal logia is a hindrance. There is still so much we don’t know about this fruit and on learning it, the Yami Yami will be higher on the ranking, but for now, it’s 5^th on our list.

4. Gura Gura no Mi

Taking the fourth position in our list of strongest devil fruits is a paramecia type that enables the user to create earthquakes effectively making the user a tremor human. The Gura Gura no Mi grants the ability to create vibrations that can travel through any medium on Earth and effectively topple land, sea, or air even.

The Gura Gura no Mi can create tsunamis powerful enough to destroy the world, earning the user a very potent notoriety of being the user of the strongest paramecia that can go toe to toe with powerhouse logia fruits. The way the fruit works is by grabbing and getting hold of the medium, even intangible ones, to pass the vibrations and it destroying the target.

But the apparent drawback of the fruit is that the vibrations affect foes and friends alike without discrimination. So an inexperienced user of this fruit can cause so much destruction, making the only weakness of the fruit that it requires an experienced user.

One might argue that the Magu Magu no Mi and the Yami Yami no Mi which are logia fruits are more versatile than the Gura Gura no Mi. However, the sheer destructive force of this fruit makes it rank above those two for the time being. Also, the range on it is just too much. Whitebeard could have sunk Marineford from a distance if he wanted to, an easy way to obliterate opponents by staying out of range.

Other than the limitation, the fruit holds the power to destroy the world, which explains why it ranks number four in our list.

3. Ope Ope no Mi

We will begin the top three of our list of strongest devil fruits with one of the only 2 devil fruit the World Government actively sought out – the Ope Ope no Mi. The fruit is a Paramecia-type fruit that turns the user into a free modification human.

Ope Ope no Mi grants the ability to construct a dome-shaped personal space within which the user is omnipotent. Within the space, the user can perform operations like body mutilation, body manipulation, soul exchanges, and even carve out entire organs and hold the enemies’ hostages.

When awakened, the abilities of this fruit are even more scarier.

The fruit can also grant eternal life to a person through surgery but at the cost of the user’s life, making this fruit one that is actively sought out by people.

Though Ope Ope no Mi grants a pretty broken ability, it is not without its cons. The rooms which makes a user omnipotent, are also a major weakness of this fruit; as the enemies need only keep their distance to avoid it. Also the movement of the user becomes restricted when using the room meaning he cannot freely move and cover more ground enveloping the area in his room.

Stamina is also another factor, as it depletes heavily with use and causes hindrance. Having a strong will also affect the working of this fruit to a considerable extent.

If not for these downsides, it would definitely have given the strongest devil fruit in this list a run for its money.

2. Goro Goro no Mi

The elemental devil fruit that enables the user to control lightning and thereby electricity itself is the Logia Class devil fruit the Goro Goro no Mi or the Rumble Rumble Fruit. The fruit is practically invincible, with the power to generate electric currents upwards of 200 million volts.

This much is enough to incinerate any living organism. What else needs to be said about the fruit??

The user will be intangible thanks to it being logia, can travel at 1.86 lakh miles per second. Pika Pika is definitely faster than the Goro Goro no Mi, however, the user is not limited to moving in straight lines and can even pass through any conductors, making it extremely versatile for them to move around.

The Goro Goro no Mi also has the largest area of attack field of any devil fruit and has a perfect balance of attack and defense. We are pretty sure that the fruit will become even more powerful once awakened. The fruit was literally termed invincible by Nico Robin.

The only reason this outrageous fruit is second is because of the sheer nature of the first fruit. So what do you guess the fruit that took the spot of being the number one on the list is?????

1. Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika

Stretching itself into the first place is the second fruit that the world government actively sought after – Hito Hito no Mi, Model Sun God Nika. The real name of the devil fruit has been kept hidden by the World government owing to the notoriety and the magnitude of the power of the fruit.

The Mythical Zoan lets the user change everything it touches into rubber (after awakening ofcourse) allowing the user to fight freely and in any way the user wills. Holding to the moniker of ‘being the most ridiculous ability in the world’, the powers of the fruit are only limited by the user’s imagination.

The powers of the fruit let the user change topography, turn the enemies into cartoonish villains, and even wield lightning. The apparent limitations of the fruit are yet to be seen as the user can even come out of exhaustion in a jiffy and continue to fight. Truly a ‘devil fruit’ in every sense, the Hito Hito no Mi takes the first place for being the fruit with ridiculous power, quirky, and for its mysterious nature.

However, as a downside, all these abilities only comes into picture when a user awakens the devil fruit. If we are not taking that into consideration, then it definitely would have ranked much lower, even below Hie Hie on this list!!
