Studio Bones President Reveals Why Mob Psycho Season 3 Was Delayed

Season 3 will start airing in Japan on Oct 5, 2022.

Mob Psycho Season 3 will finally hit the screens this October in Japan, after a gap of more than three years. Waiting for your favorite anime to air is a hard process in itself. However, Studio Bones president Masahiko Minami, has addressed the reason for the delays in between the seasons of Mob Psycho 100 anime in an interview held at the Crunchyroll Expo.

According to Minami, the third season took so long to materialize as the staff of the anime, who had been consistent for the first two seasons, were not all available at the same time to work on the project.

“From the show’s director to its character designer, since season one began, the show’s main staff has stayed consistent. They all stayed together, to work on Mob Psycho 100. I think we kept the audience waiting and a lot of people were asking, ‘Oh, where’s the next season?’. Sadly, the anime’s main staff weren’t all available at the same time, and we really wanted to make sure that they got to work on it together at the same time to keep things consistent,” Minami told Comicbook.

Mob Psycho 100 is handled by B Studio at Bones. The second season of the anime finished airing in mid 2019. After that, director Yuzuru Tachikawa, who is largely credited for bringing the anime version Mob Psycho to life perfectly, was busy working on Deca-Dence at the beginning of 2020.

The studio too had its hands full in 2021 working on the Super Crooks anime which aired on Netflix.

There was a similar three year gap between the first and second season of Mob Psycho Season 3, where Tachikawa was once again busy with the episode direction of Saga of Tanya the Evil, while B Studio focused its efforts on animating Blood Blockade.

Mob Psycho 100 season 3 will start airing on Oct 5, 2022, every Wednesday in Japan.
