Kaguya Sama Season 2 Episode 9 Makes Peanuts & Fifty Shades Of Grey Reference!

Seriously! Is there anythng that Kaguya Sama: Love is War Season 2 cannot do? Constantly getting one up over its predecessor, the show is leaving no stone unturned in giving the viewers a great experience.

The creator Aka Akasaka sure has to be praised for the brilliant way in which he has written the script, but most of these wacky reference are ofcourse being done by the team at A-1 Studios, whose passion and loyalty to the show has given birth to one of the best rom-com anime ever.

The Monogatari and Dark Souls references in the previous episodes of anme had fans beaming already. However, they were totally not ready for the Peanuts and Fifty Shades of Grey reference in Episode 9 of Kaguya Sama Season 2. The best part? These gags fit in perfectly with the flow of the story, without awkwardly standing out.

Both of these references happen as Miko Iino is complaining how the student council has not lived up to her expectations. In her wild imaginations, Miko had hoped to be a ray of new hope in an orthodox, authorotarian and no-nonsense student council. She wished to tame Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya with her ideals, thus being an irreplaceable member of the student coucil.

However, her real life experiences were nowehere close to her dreams. In her first few days as a student council member, she ended up constantly running into Kaguya and Miyuki in weird and compromising positions, seeing her idol Chika Fujiwara being harassed and getting advice from Ishigami, whom she despised the most. While most these situations were mere misunderstandings, they nevertheless ended up traumatizing her to an extent where she wished to quit the student council altogether.

That’s when these references drop, as Miko rejects the idea of just enjoying the student council life as it is, and while explaining how her notion of love is not tainted by lust at all. Osaragi’s deadpan reactions throughout this gag is priceless! And it’s not just us who were buoyed to them, even the fans too can’t stop talking about it!

Also, it was hilarious how Miko Iino, an idealist beyond doubt, used Fifty Shades of Grey Fifty Shapes of Love as something which depics true love. So should we think that Miko has a twisted mind deep down, without even her realising?

Miko and Osaragi have no doubt been great additions to the cast of Kaguya Sama Love is War Season 2. Their characters have added new dimensions to the humour stemming from the daily shenanigans in the student council room.
