Similarities: Quite on the same page as the “Curses” in Jujutsu Kaisen, Majutsushi Orphen focuses on “Spells” as the power system.

This show also nurtures sorcery and exorcism digging deep in the urban stories of living vessels similar to Sukuna’s vessel Itadori Yuuji.

But their progress is interrupted when they are unable to solve the case of an idol who was accidentally crushed to death by steel beams and turned into a faceless woman spirit wreaking havoc.

Similarities: Much like JJK, In/Spectre is also an action mystery series involving supernatural phenomenon and their impact on the real world.

Unlike curses here they have yokai and spirits which lurks in the plain sight of the human world.

12. The God of Highschool

Studios: MAPPA

The story staright up dives into the “God of High School Arc” where our MC and Taekwondo expert Jin Mo-Ri is invited to participate in the competition.

Thus Mo-Ri, Dae-Wi, and Mi-Ra are about to discover what it really means to become the God of High School and uncover more about the organization behind this tournament!

Similarities: Other than the same Studio, here Mo-Ri is also equipped with a hidden power similar to Yuuji Itadori.

The God of High School also dwells into the backstories of the trio fighters giving weight to the anime like Jujutsu Kaisen(JJK). Finally, action and combat is just the icing on the cake!

11. Blue exorcist

Studios; A-1 Pictures

Ao no Exorcist follows Rin Okumura who is a seemingly ordinary, impulsive teenager until one day he was ambushed by demons.

He finds out that he is the very son of Satan and that his demon father wishes for him to become Satan’s vessel and together they can conquer the Human world.

Not wanting to join the King of Demons, Rin decides to begin training to become an exorcist so that he can fight to defend Assiah, the human world alongside his brother Yukio.

Similarities: As the son of Satan, Rin is carrying a demon inside him similar to Itadori from JJK. He also leaves his world to focus on training and join the exorcists to fight the demons.

Even though Rin is bullied for his demon features, he embraces that and decides to protect the human side in him; like Yuuji joins the Jujutsu Tech.

10. Toilet-bound Hanako kun

Studio: Lerche

But, due to some unforeseen circumstances, she is dragged into the world of the supernatural and becomes Hanako-san’s assistant to maintain balance between humans and the apparitions that seem to want to mess with them and disrupt the balance.

Similarities: Yashiro Nene and the Mc of JJK falls on a related ground- a deal with the supernatural.

This deal is what changed both of their lives forever and unintentionally got them involved in the unknown world of spirits and curses respectively; where they cannot go back to being a normal human anymore.

9. Fire Force

Studios: David Production

Young and eager third-generation pyrokinetic Shinra Kusakabe, nicknamed Devil’s Footprints for his explosive ability to ignite his feet at will, becomes a member of the lively Special Fire Force Company 8. Uphol

ding the brigade’s duty to extinguish the Spontaneous Human Combustion: Infernals and lay their souls to rest, Shinra is determined to become a hero who will save the lives of those threatened by the flame terror.

However, its not a easy task he has taken on. The Fire Force is a fractured mess of feuding brigades, abnormal Infernal sightings are increasing all over Tokyo, and a shadowy group is claiming to have answers to the strange fire that caused the death of Shinra’s family 12 years ago.

Faced with many obstacles within and outside the Fire Force, Shinra fights to uncover the truth behind the burning mysteries that have kept him in the dark.

Similarities: Fire Force gives the same vibe as Jujutsu Kaisen as a dark fantasy battle shounen anime with memorable characters. Both Shinra and Yuuji are lively protagonists who desire to help people using their special abilities. So, if you liked JJK, then make sure to give it a try!

8. Bleach

Studios: Studio Pierrot

Bleach like it or not is an anime that became a stepping stone for the modern-day shounen that we watch and let’s say it is just one of the Godfathers of Jujutsu Kaisen among many others.

Ichigo Kurosaki is an ordinary high schooler—until his family is attacked by a Hollow, a corrupt spirit that seeks to devour human souls.

It is then that he meets a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki, who gets injured while protecting Ichigo’s family from the assailant. To save his family, Ichigo accepts Rukia’s offer of taking her powers and becomes a Soul Reaper as a result.

As Ichigo and his comrades get used to their new duties and support each other on and off the battlefield, the young Soul Reaper soon learns that the Hollows are not the only real threat to the human world.

Similarities: Other than the identical trope of demons or curses harboring inside the Mcs, both the shows are outstanding in showcasing supernatural fights. Hollows in Bleach are the same as the Curses in Jujutsu Kaisen anime which makes it relatable yet in a totally new experience.

7. Hunter x Hunter

Studios: Nippon Animation

HxH is about a young boy named Gon who embarks on a journey to find his father.

After learning that his father left him at a young age to become a Hunter, Gon decides to follow in his footsteps not only to find him, but also to see what was so special about the profession that made his father choose it over him.

You may ask, that its like the other giants like Naruto and Fairy Tail, but Hunter x Hunter boasts one of the finest writing in the world of shonen; the depth and flow of the story, enthralling characterizations, strong dialogue and impressive world-building are all crafted into a fascinating tale that can absorb viewers into lengthy marathons.

Similarities: Not only the same protagonist tropes makes such anime like HxH and JJK admirable, but also the overall theme of eerie dark battle fantasy accompanied by fun characters like Hisoka and Mahito.

5. Noragami

Studio: Bones

Noragami is a world of its own. It is a universe of eight million Gods, dead spirits who serve them and some of them who meddle in human affairs. The duty of the Gods is to slay ayakashis or phantoms in order to protect the human beings from losing themselves.

The core story involves a lesser-known god Yato who one day wishes to be a great God prayed by all humanity. However, he has reduced to working normal jobs with his regalia(sacred weapons) to help humans and collect enough money to build at least one shrine. During the events, he meets Hiyori who becomes an ayakashi when she tries to save Yato.

The animation and directions are pretty good. It is a fun introduction to Japanese Shinto mythology if you are interested, though it’s just an inspiration rather than the strict themes of the show.

Similarities: Much like the Curses, ayakashis/phantoms in Noragami are born from human malice and negativity. Here also we see the internal struggle and hesitations to kill the enemy knowing that once they were human is a great tragedy both the shows share.

The Trio of two sane characters and the third as the Op goofball is also a common factor!

4. Mob Psycho 100

Studios: Bones

If you are looking for an action packed show which instantly revitalises your interest in contemporary anime, Mob Psycho 100 is here.

Mob Psycho tells the story of Shigeru “Mob” Kageyama, a boy born with insanely powerful psychic powers, but rather than using his abilities to his advantage, Mob just wants to impress his crush and enjoy a normal teenage life.

However, he gets constantly tangled up in sinister cults, evil psychic rivals and shadowy organizations hell-bent on world domination.

Similarities: MoB Psycho 100 might be the closest relative of Jujutsu Kaisen anime as they both use Op sorcerers who fight spirits born from negativities.

We also get a master-student pairing of Arataka and Mob much like Gojo and Itadori-kun. Both the MCs go through a fair amount of internal conflict which fans their flames of immense power used only to protect their loved ones.

6. Demon Slayer

Studios: ufotable

Demon Slayer is ufotable’s first project and they have turned the show into a work of art! And finally we have a protagonist with a genuine end goal- PROTECC THE IMOUTO!

The story begins with our MC Tanjiro Kamadao coming home one day to find out his family is brutally slaughtered by demons.

Only one of his sister survived, who herself turned into a bloodthirsty demon. So begins Tanjiro’s quest to become a demon hunter to find a cure for his little sister and protect others from the same tragedy that had befallen him.

Similarities: Tanjiro from Kimetsu no Yaiba is a lot like Yuuji Itadori who was pushed into a situation of life and death until the MC decides to fight for survival. Both the Demon Slayers and Jujutsu Sorcerers possess trained weapons or powers to counter their enemies.

The internal struggle between the characters to kill the enemy knowing that once they were human is a great tragedy both the shows have to bear.

While the trio of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke reminds us of the 3 man team of Itadori, Nobara, and Megumi, the beautiful battle scenes are no less of a selling point in either of the shows!

3. Parasyte: The Maxim

Studios: Madhouse

A high school student Shinichi Izumi, is living peacfully with his family in a neighbourhood until one day, some parasytic aliens invade the Earth taking over human brains. Feasting on Human flesh in order to survive these creatures create havoc in the community.

Falling victim to the phenomenon, Shinichi faces the parasyte who could only reach upto the right hand. Unable to relocate, the parasite, now named Migi, has no choice but to rely on Shinichi in order to stay alive.

Thus, the pair is forced into an uneasy coexistence and must defend themselves from hostile parasites that hope to eradicate this new threat to their species.

Similarities: Coexistence with a monster in a human body and fitting in the society is the same premise of both shows.

The MCs going through brutal traumas due to their lack of predictability is a shared factor. And the selling point for either of them has to be the battle scenes and dialogues full of ideologies.

2. Tokyo Ghoul

Studios: Studio Pierrot

Based on the best-selling supernatural horror manga by Sui Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul follows Ken Kaneki, a shy, bookish college student, who is instantly drawn to Rize Kamishiro, an avid reader like himself.

However, Rize is not exactly who she seems, and this unfortunate meeting pushes Kaneki into the dark depths of the ghouls’ inhuman world. And thus begins his new, secret life as a half-ghoul/half-human who must find a way to integrate into both societies.

Similarities: The struggles Kaneki has to go through to choose a side at the death’s door is akin to Yuuji’s deal to Sukuna. A living double-edged sword trying his best to fit in the society and not give up his humanity to the devil inside them is a strong selling point that makes us hopeful for the MCs.

As a cherry on top, we get to see some incredibly crafted emotional battles between ghouls and the investigators only to rival the fighting scenes in JJK.

1. Naruto

Studios: Studio Pierrot

In a world where Ninjas are predominent and they practice the use of Chakra to fight in battles , Naruto Uzumaki was born. He is a prankstar who dreams to be the Hokage, is shunned by the village for the terror he carries inside him- The Nine Tailed Fox.

The story follows Naruto, as he grows from being a stupid little prank-playing brat to becoming a fine ninja. Along the way, he interacts and makes friends with many fellow ninjas, fighting his way towards his dream of becoming Hokage respected by all.

Similarities: Now now. Besides the Gojo memes, there are some serious similarities between Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen anime which got undermined by the shits and giggles.

Both the series have a similar Op airhead character who is ignorant about the power of the monster inside them. The concept of “Chakra” in the Naruto series is the same power system as “Cursed Energy” used to defend oneself in JJK.

Both Naruto and Itadori have bound their inner demons with their sheer endurance of the human side which leaks out when the human vessel is vulnerable and goes on a rampage.

Also let’s not forget the relatable three-man team setup; an ongoing bromance and rivalry with the cool dark-haired team member, and a senior white-haired guy with the face covered by mask (but the masks are in reverse…oops now its out lol).

And finally, the creepy undying soul shifting antagonists and charismatic supporting characters.

I hope you will love these animes if you hearted Jujutsu Kaisen so far. Don’t forget to let us know your recommendations for such topics in the comment section. Until then, mata ne!
