Shuntarō Yanagi will play Kenichirō Ryūzaki aka “Kencho”

Comment:

When I read the script, I thought this would be a zombie movie unlike anything I had ever seen before. I felt that the unique zombie world of Japan, including the unique zombies and the city of Tokyo in this story, would be a very attractive work if depicted on Netflix. I was very happy to meet Kencho. I was struck by the way he became a man with the support of his friends, wondering if he could overcome his past trauma in the zombie world.

Mai Shiraishi will play Shizuka Mikazuki

Comment:

The main character Akira’s idea of “not having to go to work” because of the zombification of the city made me chuckle at first. I also met Shizuka and Kencho, who share the same goal, and I felt that this is a zombie story but also a coming-of-age work with a slightly pop and comical element. It was the first time for me to take on such a full-fledged action role, but Shizuka is a cool girl who boldly takes on the challenge, so I tried not to let myself be defeated and to be strong.

Kazuki Kitamura will play Gonzō Kosugi

Comment:

In a world full of zombies, “I don’t have to go to work anymore! This is a novel idea. The role of Kosugi’s own office is that of an anachronistic, painted-as-a-picture harassment boss at the company, who is even more unpleasant than the zombies. If I were in the same situation as the protagonist, I might act in the same way.

It was previously revealed that Eiji Akaso will play the role of the protagonist Akira Tendo.

The series was nominated for the Eisner Award in the Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia and Best Humor Publication categories in 2022.

Viz Media licensed the manga, and it describes the story:

Surviving a zombie apocalypse beats being a wage slave any day! After spending years slaving away for a soul-crushing company, Akira’s life has lost its luster. He lives in a trash-filled apartment, his pay is abysmal, and he can’t even muster up the nerve to confess his love to his beautiful co-worker. But when a zombie apocalypse ravages his town, it gives him the push he needs to live for himself. Now Akira’s on a mission to complete all 100 items on his bucket list before he…well, kicks the bucket.
