Sonic The Hedgehog: The Blade Of Courage creator Yuki Imada has expressed disappointment after discovering what appears to be incorrect reviews attached to the manga’s newly released English edition on IDW Publishing’s Digital Comics app, with several reviews crediting longtime Sonic creators instead of Imada.
The manga launched on the IDW Digital Comics app on July 29 as the official English-language release of the series.
Shortly after its debut, Imada took to X to share a screenshot of the app’s review section, which included comments praising writers and artists who did not work on The Blade of Courage.
“(Even though it was supervised) I drew the art and wrote the story myself, so what the hell is this? I was finally excited that people overseas would get to read it, and then this happens… I’ve never felt so insulted,” Imada posted.
One review attributed the story to Ian Flynn, while another praised artwork by Tracy Yardley.
The screenshot also showed multiple reviews referring broadly to IDW’s handling of the Sonic franchise rather than The Blade of Courage itself.
Imada launched Sonic The Hedgehog: The Blade Of Courage in Shogakukan’s Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine in June 2025.
The English release marks the first official translation of Sonic The Hedgehog: The Blade Of Courage.
