Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 1 World Premiere Draws 3,000 Fans At NYCC 2026

The world premiere of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus brought 3,000 fans to New York Comic Con 2026 on Oct. 8, as the franchise debuted the first episode of the anime at the Javits Center in New York.

The screening took place three days before the series’ Japanese premiere on Oct. 11, with the English dub cast appearing at the convention to mark the occasion.

Jason Douglas, who voices Beerus in English, and Ian Sinclair, the English voice of Whis, joined Monica Rial, who voices Bulma, for a panel ahead of the screening.

The event concluded with Nozawa, the Japanese voice of Goku, leading the audience in a collective “Kamehameha” through a video message before the world premiere screening began.

The first episode’s screening was met with applause from the audience, according to the event reports, with attendees remaining enthusiastic after the screening concluded.

Douglas credited the franchise’s combination of strong writing, memorable characters and action for drawing him to the entertainment industry in the first place. He explained that these elements were what made him fall in love with acting, adding that Dragon Ball brings all three together.

Sinclair echoed that sentiment, saying that he would be perfectly happy if Dragon Ball were the only show he could work on throughout his career, describing his involvement in the series and the opportunity to be surrounded by people who share his passion as incredible.

The panel also featured messages from the Japanese voice actors behind two of the franchise’s central characters.

Masako Nozawa, who has voiced Goku for decades, praised the continuing adventures of Goku and his friends, noting that the characters keep growing stronger. She also highlighted the appeal of the story created by the late Akira Toriyama and expressed her hope that audiences around the world would continue to enjoy it.

Koichi Yamadera, who voices Beerus in Japanese, urged viewers to pay attention to the God of Destruction in the upcoming series, highlighting his coolness, frightening presence and immense strength.

The announcements included new characters for Dragon Ball Legends and Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle, a release date for Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 3, the FB11 and BT32 sets for Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World, and the S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku -Exclusive Edition- figure.

Meanwhile, the franchise has launched a promotional campaign across the United States.

A wrapped bus began touring New York on Oct. 5 for a month, with key visuals displayed at subway entrances throughout the city.

Los Angeles also received a wrapped bus and promotional visuals at bus stops. Additional visuals are on display at 28 Simon malls nationwide, while the Super Surge Trailer is being showcased at Haywood Mall in Greenville, South Carolina, and Castleton Square in Indianapolis, Indiana.
