With the renewal of “Saikyo Jump” back to a monthly schedule, Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed today in their 31st issue that “Kimetsu Gakuen!” a spin-off anime shorts based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga will get their own manga series.
The new manga Kimetsu Gakuen! will start in the September issue of Saikyo Jump which is scheduled to be released on August 4. “Hell Warden Higuma” creator Natsuki Hokami will be penning the series with Koyoharu Gotouge, the original creator of the Demon Slayer franchise.
Kimetsu Gakuen! will focus on the characters we know from the main series in a ‘deformed’ style based on the shorts that aired after the TV anime series episodes. The four “Kimetsu Gakuen Valentine-hen” Valentine’s Day-themed shorts premiered on February 14. The shorts feature the characters from the manga in a school setting.
Koyoharu Goutoge’s “Demon Slayer” manga serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, with its chapters collected in 23 tankōbon volumes. It is available in English by Viz Media and simulpublished by Shueisha on their Manga Plus platform.
A 26-episode anime television series adaptation produced by Ufotable aired in Japan from April to September 2019. A sequel film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, also released in October 2020 and became the highest-grossing anime film and Japanese film of all time. A second season will premiere in late 2021.
