The results of top Japanese internet buzzwords of 2022 were announced on Monday and the winner is Uta from One Piece Film Red. In addition to Uta, Monkey D. Luffy the main character from One Piece ranked third in the list.

The buzzwords are shortlisted based on the pageviews from the pop culture and slang dictionaries Nico Nico Pedia and Pickup encyclopedia and the most popular tags on pixiv.

The top 10 overall buzzwords are listed below:

2. Takopi’s Original Sin
3. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece character)
4. Avataro Sentai Donbrothers (tokusatsu TV show)
5. Yor Forger (Spy×Family character)

8. Zoffy (Ultraman character)
9. Suletta Mercury (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury character)
10. Anya Forger (Spy×Family character)

Spy X Family also won the pixiv award for most submissions compared to previous year.

The movie opened in Japan on Aug 6, 2022, collecting over 2 billion yen in its first weekend.

PVR Cinemas announced on Aug 26 that they will release the movie in Indian theatres on October 7, 2022.

On Aug 11, PVR cinemas placed standees across multiple theatres in Mumbai revealing that One Piece Film Red will release in India in October 2022.

Goro Taniguchi returns to the franchise for the first time since 1998 to direct One Piece Film: Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa will be in charge of the screenplay. TOEI Animation is animating the film with original author Eiichiro Oda serving as executive producer.

The movie features and centers on the mysterious character Uta, who is teased to be Shanks daughter in the teaser. Uta is voiced by Kaori Nazuka (voice cast) and Ado (singing cast).
