TIFFCOM, the film and TV trading event that runs parallel to Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), has announced that it will again take place entirely online this year.
TIFFCOM 2021 will be held for three days from November 1st (Mon.) through 3rd (Wed.) for the second time online after last year.
The outline of TIFFCOM 2021 was announced at the 34th TOKYO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL Press Conference on September 28th.
A total of 15 movies will be planned on a wide range of themes, including domestic and foreign movies, TV programs, and distribution.
Online markets allow players in the content industry to join the markets anytime from anywhere in the world, with reasonable exhibiting and participation costs.
This year, with enhanced online services such as online meetings and screening systems, over 1,000 participants including exhibitors and buyers from Asia, Europe, North America, and other regions have already registered as of September 24th.
A variety of seminars and pitch projects are planned on various themes of the content industry this year, including a seminar by Netflix, “Netflix: From Asia to the World – Breaking out new titles –”.
The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market, a planning market specializing in gap finance, also aims to be a unique feature of Tokyo. In addition, live-action and animation pitches by VIPO (Video Industry Emerging Organization) are planned.
Animation will also take a center stage as a theme. “Overseas collaboration of animation production considered by next-generation producers”, “Overseas strategy of KADOKAWA animation,” ISEKAI -work examples and future”, “Corona disaster seen in animation industry report 2021” etc. and seminars such as “Forefront of Anime in Japan” will be available.
