The One Piece Film Red continued its voyage of breaking records and now it has taken over James Cameroon’s Avatar and Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo to become the 11th highest earning movie in Japan.

The movie has earned 15.7 billion yen in its 46 days run and has mobilized over 11.26 million people. It had 259,000 spectators on September 24 and 25, 2022 earning over 358 million yen approximately 2.49 million USD

The movie although ranks the 11th highest earning movie in Japan it is only behind 5 anime movies in claiming the number 1 anime movie spot.

The five highest-earning anime films above One Piece Film Red on the list are:

The movie opened in Japan on Aug 6, 2022, collecting over 2 billion yen in its first weekend.

PVR Cinemas announced on Aug 26 that they will release the movie in Indian theatres on October 7, 2022.

On Aug 11, PVR cinemas placed standees across multiple theatres in Mumbai revealing that One Piece Film Red will release in India in October 2022.

Crunchyroll has announced on their official website on Sep 12, 2022, that they will be bringing One Piece Red Film to theatres in U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand this November.

Goro Taniguchi returns to the franchise for the first time since 1998 to direct One Piece Film: Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa will be in charge of the screenplay. TOEI Animation is animating the film with original author Eiichiro Oda serving as executive producer.
