A young entrepreneur in China has turned his love for the anime Crayon Shin-chan into a real-life wonder by building a life-sized replica of the Nohara family home.
The project, which cost 3 million yuan (approximately $410,000), has quickly become a viral sensation and a tourist attraction.
The man behind the venture, Shen Yuhao, a Zhejiang Province native, recreated the iconic house from the anime in full detail at Yun Duo Farm in Huzhou City. Shen’s goal was not just to pay homage to his favorite anime but to boost local tourism in his hometown.
Shen Yuhao returned to his hometown after graduating from university to start a business as an agricultural creator while taking over the family sheep farm. To transform his hometown into a popular tourist spot, he devised the plan to build the Nohara House.
Shen and his creative team, all Crayon Shin-chan fans, first came up with the idea during casual conversations while working overtime.
Determined to pursue this project professionally, the team made multiple visits to Crayon Shin-chan’s exclusive licensing agency in Shanghai to obtain construction permissions.
The team received extensive reference materials from the copyright holders and paid meticulous attention to every detail, from roofing to furniture, everything had to be custom-made. This led to the total cost exceeding 3 million yuan, his initial budget.
However, Shen credited his mother’s unwavering financial support for helping him realize his dream, stating, “fortunately, my mother supported me unconditionally, allowing me to secure the startup funds to realize this dream“.

The local government also backed the project, improving road access to the farm and incorporating the house into a broader village tourism route.
“Shen’s vision as a member of the younger generation is truly commendable. But I never thought he would actually build the Nohara House,” a village official remarked.
Shen’s ambitions don’t stop there. Once his business stabilizes, he plans to recreate Shin-chan’s Futaba Kindergarten School and even aims to replicate the anime’s setting, Kasukabe, as a full-scale attraction.
