The highly anticipated second season of Made in Abyss is all set to air in July 2022. Made in Abyss Season 2 Episode 1 will pickup the story from where the movie left off, focusing on the Ganja group along with the main trio of Riko, Reg and Nanachi.

Made in Abyss Season 2 is titled – Made In Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ōgonkyō).

The official website of Made in Abyss anime revealed the premise of Made in Abyss Season 2 Episode 1. The episode mainly focuses on the Ganja group and their voyage to the Golden City in the abyss.

The “Ganja,” a decisive death squad traveling in search of a golden city. They continue their voyage to uncharted lands, relying on the “star compass” held by Vueco, a member of the squadron. One day, a violent storm hits the Ganja fleet. While other ships were being swept away by the waves one after another, Vueco noticed that the compass was standing tall. Vueco immediately notified Wazukyan, the leader of the group, and at that moment, an island appeared beyond the storm. When they finally reach the island, the ganja team finds a huge hole as far as the eye can see.

Made in Abyss Season 2 Episode 1 is titled: ‘The compass pointed to darkness’. The preview images for the episode are as follows:

The Made in Abyss manga is made by Akihito Tsukushi and was published under Bamboo Comics label. It began serializing in 2012.

The manga received an anime adaptation in 2017. It was followed by two compilation movies Made In Abyss: Journey’s Dawn and Made In Abyss: Wandering Twilight, which were released in January 2019, and a sequel movie, titled Made In Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, which released in Japan on January 2020.
