The official Twitter accounts for Weekly Shonen Jump and Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura‘s manga Blue Lock announced on October 5th that the manga will have to take a sudden break due to the illustrator, Nomura‘s poor health.
According to the tweets, the magazine’s 45th issue did not publish a new chapter of the manga on Wednesday since the cover page was still unfinished. The manga is scheduled to resume in the magazine’s 48th issue on October 27.
This time last year, Nomura shared his sleeping schedule (or lack thereof), showing the manga creator gets on average 4 hours and 10 minutes of sleep during a week.
Kaneshiro and Nomura launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2018. Kodansha published the manga’s 15th compiled book volume on August 17, and it will publish the 16th volume on October 15.
The volumes have over 4.5 million copies printed. The manga won the Best Shōnen Manga award in Kodansha’s 45th annual Manga Awards earlier this year.
The manga is inspiring a television anime that will premiere in 2022.
