Dropkick On My Devil! Anime Applies For Guinness World Record For Crowdfunding Over 100 Million Yen

The campaign reached its initial goal of 30 million yen within 35 minutes of its launch on November 30.

The official Twitter account of The DropKick on My Devil! anime revealed that the anime’s crowdfunding project has successfully raised a total of 115,964,266 yen (approximately $907,000) by the end of its campaign on Friday.

The goal was to surpass the 96,560,858 yen (approximately $756,000) that was raised by the Dies irae anime through a crowdfunding campaign in 2015, and the staff has announced that they will apply for a Guinness World Record for the most money raised by an anime production project through crowdfunding.

The goal of the campaign is to raise enough money to produce an entire fourth season titled DropKick on My Devil! NEXT.

The staff explained that the cost of producing one-cours (quarter of a year) anime is about 30 million yen, and they do not have the resources to raise that much capital, which is why they launched the crowdfunding campaign for a new OVA episode.

The campaign reached its initial goal of 30 million yen within 35 minutes of its launch on November 30. The staff has plans to add one more episode for every additional 30 million yen raised, and to screen the episodes at events and stream them online.

A Jashin-chan Festival event is planned for May 4, 2023.

The staff had also said that with every 30 million added, they will compile the episodes and released them as the fourth season of the anime.

They have also mentioned that the funds will be used for various animation expenses, such as main production costs, promotion costs, and other expenses related to animation.

Previously, Furano city, who had decided to aid the production of Dropkick on My Devil X anime (season 3) in exchange of getting a special episode that will be set in the city, froze 33 million yen on grounds of having included inappropriate content in a special episode of the anime, which could tarnish the image of the city.

Third season of the anime was also crowdfunded.
