Cartoon Network India revealed that they will start airing Dragon Ball Z Kai on the channel every Sunday at 1:00 p.m., starting from April 16, 2023.
The channel is designating these Sundays as “Super Sundays” as Indian fans will be able to witness the extravagance and daring thrills as Goku defends the Earth from aliens.
Talking about the show’s premiere, Uttam Pal Singh, Head of Kids Cluster, South Asia, Warner Bros. Discovery, said, “After the spectacular success of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ and ‘Digimon Adventure:’, and a great response from the audience, we are ready to cheer Otaku fans with another anime phenomenon, ‘Dragon Ball Z Kai’. The power-packed series will surely add excitement and thrill to the summer season for our audience with its engaging storyline, high-energy dubs, vibrant animation, and relatable characters. Moreover, apart from expanding our anime line-up, we are pleased to invite more fans to join the Cartoon Network community with the ‘Dragon Ball Z Kai’ premiere in five local languages, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.”
The anime will be airing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The Hindi dub cast for Dragon Ball Z Kai includes:
- Ankur Javeri as Goku
- Prasad Barve as Vegeta
- Shailendra Pandey as Piccolo
- Neshma as Chichi
- Mayur Vyas as Krillin
- Mani Puhan as Bulma
- Shruti Sinha as Gohan
The dub cast for other regional languages have not been revealed.
Earlier, Cartoon Network’s booth at Mumbai Comic Con had aired a special promo video for Dragon Ball Z Kai to give fans a glimpse of the show.
Dragon Ball Z Kai, also known as Dragon Ball Kai, is a revised version of the anime series Dragon Ball Z, produced in commemoration of its 20th anniversary. It remastered high definition picture, sound, and special effects as well as a re-recorded voice track by most of the original cast.
The aspect ratio was also changed from 4:3 to 16:9.
Dragon Ball Z Kai was originally broadcast in Japan on Fuji TV from April 5, 2009 to March 27, 2011. A follow-up series, which adapts the remaining story arcs from the original manga, was aired in Japan from April 6, 2014 to June 28, 2015.
Cartoon Network describes the plot of Dragon Ball Z Kai as follows:
The remastered tale of Goku, the mighty warrior and his allies defending the planet against an assortment of villains brings back the action-packed storyline, colourful characters, and exciting scenes! The world is at peace until one day, Goku’s son, Gohan, falls into a deep ravine putting his life in danger. On this adventure to save his son’s life, Goku will take fans to another planet to obtain the mystical Dragon Balls. As Goku and his friends continue their battle with the fearsome Saiyan race, they will encounter bizarre, comical, heart-warming, and threatening characters that fans would not want to miss out on!
Cartoon Network India had recently aired Dragon Ball Super anime in India, starting from May 2022.
