Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga has surpassed One Piece & Dragon Ball Super by a considerable margin to become the most read manga on Shueisha’s Manga Plus app.
Chainsaw Man manga (English version) has garnered over 740,000 views at the time of writing. Eiichiro Oda‘s One Piece manga (English version) on the other hand has just over 650,000 views.
Akira Toriyama and Toyotaru’s Dragon Ball Super (Spanish version), which had close to 600k views, came in at third place.
Chainsaw Man has been trending ever since Part 2 of the manga started serialization on July 13 in Japan (July 12 for audience in other countries).
Chapter 98 of the manga had crossed over 2.5 million views within a day on the Jump+ platform. It had crossed 1 million views in less than seven hours.
Fujimoto debuted Chainsaw Man in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018. The first part ended in December 2020.
The manga was nominated for the 13th Manga Taisho awards in 2019, and ranked at #4 on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2020 (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook’s top manga for male readers.
The manga won in the Best Shōnen Manga category at the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards. Additionally, the manga topped the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2021 list for male readers. The manga won the Best Manga award at The Harvey Awards in October.
It was also nominated for the Eisner Award 2022, but lost to Junji Ito’s Lovesickness manga collection.
