POS tracking giant, Circana BookScan (formerly NPD), put out its list of top 20 Adult graphic novels for the month of August 2023 on Sep 12, 2023, with 19 out of 20 spots occupied by manga volumes.

20th volume of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen topped the best selling list, while volume 1 of Koma Warita’s Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir manga from Kodansha Comics made its debut in the charts for the first time.

The rankings are prepared after NPD collects weekly point-of-sale data on print books from over 16,000 locations including e-tailers, chains, mass merchandisers, independent bookstores, and more.

Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen volume 20, and Jujutsu Kaisen volume 1 are the only manga that ranked in the top fifteen of New York Times’ monthly Graphic Books and Manga bestseller list of early September 2023.
