Nodwin and AIMAP who organized the World Cosplay Summit national Preliminaries finally announced the winner of 2021’s WCS Indian region on 9th August, Monday. A two-woman team from Arunachal, Lapis Lazuli, composed of cosplayers Hotaru Juno and KitsuneBlood won the Environmental Consideration in Costume Making award at the Summit Finals that took place from August 7-8.
KitsuneBlood Cosplays cosplayed as Kagura and Hotaru Juno cosplayed as Matako Kijima from the Gintama anime.
Closest to the prize after Lapis Lazuli was the team from Shillong, Abyssal Scar who was the next best team in the whole competition but missed the chance to win by a whisker.
The preliminaries for the World Cosplay Summit 2021 Video Championship opened on April 5. Participants entered the online competition in pairs.
WCS included cosplay events with photoshoots and stage events, as well as a video cosplay championship. The event’s executive committee includes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya City, Nagoya Convention & Visitors Bureau, Osu Shopping District Alliance, Aichi Television Broadcasting, and WCS.
The event canceled its Championship and International Representative events last year due to the ongoing new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, and instead held a “Cosplay Summit Online Presentation.”
