A group of cosplayers in Japan, dressed as members of the Tokyo Manji Gang from the anime Tokyo Revengers, got into trouble during a recent photoshoot in a public facility when the onlookers mistook them for real gang members.

The group requested permission from the administration of the facility, however, they overlooked to mention that they would represent the characters of the Tokyo Manji Gang, from the Tokyo Revengers series . Pedestrians apparently called authorities, believing it was a real delinquent gang.

Vandalism is forbidden in public places in Japan, thus if a pedestrian notices an occurrence of this type, they have the right to promptly notify it to the local authorities and the site’s administration.

Twitter user @nl2slar3uic5r5 criticized the gang’s choice of representation. The user commented on the video uploaded by @mikasamansa, a member of the group, as “unsettling” and “scary”.

The same critic pointed out that even though they had permission, the act “violated the rules of the facility”. To this, the group member apologized and said, “I think it would have been okay if I told them in advance about doing the Tokyo Revengers. But occupying a public place in this way is certainly not a good idea. I’ll be more careful when cosplaying in the future. “
