The New York Library revealed its Best Books for the year 2023 for for kids, teens, and adults. The list was announced on Nov 21, 2023, by a team of dedicated librarians and staff who worked together to curate it.
This annual compilation spans across categories such as fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, poetry, and Spanish-language children’s books, among others.
Notably, the Best Books list for teens featured four manga titles among the 50 selected works. The manga titles are:
- Akane-banashi by Yuki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue
- Love’s in Sight! by Uoyama
- The Moon on a Rainy Night by Kuzushiro
- The Summer Hikaru Died by Mokumokuren
The committee responsible for curating the best books for teens list includes Asuncion Cora and Elisa Garcia as co-chairs, along with Anita Duka, Parker Gaidimas, Olesia Kojemiako, Ivy Kuhrman, Chelsey Masterson, Grace Rosa, Arielle Saber, Kimberly Schropp, Renee Scott, Zoe Smolen, Hannah Spratt, Atticus Sutcliffe, Paul Sylvester, and Ricci Yuhico.
All recommended titles are available in the Library’s catalog and many are available in multiple formats, including e-books, audiobooks, and accessible editions.
