Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine’s issue #17 announced on Aug 18, 2023, that My Dress-Up Darling manga will be adopting a monthly serialization for its ongoing Tenmei arc (Mandate of Heaven), which began serializing on Jan 6, 2023, with the 86th chapter of the manga.

This sudden change is due to the author, Shinichi Fukuda, taking more time to craft lengthier and more detailed chapters for the story arc.

The next chapter of the manga will release on Sep 15, 2023, in the magazine’s 19th issue.

My Dress-Up Darling is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda. It began serialization in Square Enix’s Young Gangan in January 2018, and has been compiled into eleven volumes as of March 2023.

By May 2023, the manga had 9.3 million copies in circulation.

An anime television series adaptation produced by CloverWorks aired from January to March 2022. A sequel has been announced.

MAL describes the plot of the manga as:

Engrossed in the family business of traditional doll making, Wakana Gojou is a reserved high school freshman without friends. Harboring painful memories of a childhood friend’s disdain toward his interest, Gojou cannot relate to his classmates and their pastimes, eventually isolating himself.

Gojou has yet to perfect his crafting of dolls’ faces, but is exceptionally skilled at making their clothes. His finesse with the sewing machine is soon discovered by his beautiful classmate Marin Kitagawa, whose boldness and honesty Gojou both admires and envies. Instantly, she shares with Gojou her own hobby: she likes to cosplay as characters from erotic video games.

However, Kitagawa cannot sew her own costumes, leading her to seek Gojou’s expertise. Now, as he is dragged along to the charming girl’s endless cosplay-related affairs, Kitagawa becomes his first friend who fully accepts him. Thus, although polar opposites, their relationship slowly blossoms through their aptitude in helping each other in the intricate world of cosplay.
