Gege Akutami Reveals His Thoughts On Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 5

Jujutsu Kaisen manga creator Gege Akutami recently shared his thoughts on the final episode of cour 1 of anime’s second season, which aired on Aug 3, 2023.

In a heartfelt message, Akutami expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the hard work put into episode 5 of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. Despite initial expectations that this season would solely focus on the past arc, Akutami praised the team for creating an engaging narrative that surpassed his expectations.

Thanks for season two episode five!!

Even though it was said that Season 2 would only cover the past arc, it was made with such care and attention to detail that it’s not strange at all!

I can’t believe we’re also getting Shibuya after all this!!” Akutami stated with excitement, as he referred to the upcoming arc, teasing fans with the prospect of what’s to come.

However, the creator also took a moment to look beyond his own work and delivered an earnest recommendation to aspiring manga artists and animators. He encouraged anyone with an interest in the industry to watch all five episodes of the past arc (Hidden Inventory arc).

According to him, the last five weeks have been a testament to potential of the current and upcoming generation of creators.

Shoving aside my own original work for a minute here, I really want to highly recommend to anyone who wants to be involved in creating manga or anime in the future to watch all five episodes of this past arc!! It was an overwhelming five weeks, showing the potential and future of our generation and the younger generation!

In a display of appreciation, Akutami acknowledged the contribution of industry veterans and shared his admiration for Mori Hisaishi-san.

And of course the veterans!! I’m a huge fan of Mori Hisaishi-san so I’m super happy!!

He also expressed his joy in hearing Hidaka-san (Tsukumo Yuki VA) in episode 5, granting viewers an opportunity to hear from a character whose voice was limited in the first season.

It was great to hear Hidaka-san’s (Tsukumo Yuki) voice acting since we didn’t get to hear from her in the first season!!

The meticulous attention to detail and animation quality did not escape Akutami’s keen eye. Even the mob characters were given top-tier animation treatment, demonstrating the dedication of the production team to deliver excellence in every aspect of the series.

Amidst the humor, the creator playfully commented that one of the characters got to smoke, a privilege he, as a mangaka, cannot enjoy due to societal constraints.

Akutami’s keen observation didn’t stop there. He noticed even the small details, such as Tsukumo-san’s painted nails, which speaks volumes about the team’s commitment to bringing the characters to life with authenticity.

The mob characters also got that top tier animation treatment huh.
The old guy got to smoke instead of me.
Even Tsukumo-san’s nails were painted.
