The release date for Evangelion : 3.0+1.0 : Thrice Upon A Time, has been delayed. The film was set to release on 23 January 2021. The anime staff will share the new release date later. This delay was due to the imposition of a state of Emergency in 11 prefectures of Japan, owing to the increasing number of cases related to the new strain of the Coronavirus disease.
Shiro Sagisu’s music release from “SHIN EVANGELION” is also being shift to a later date(unspecified). Hikarui Utada performed the theme song “One Last Kiss” for the film.
Hidekin Anno directed the original anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, produced by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production. It aired on TV Tokyo from October 1995 to March 1996.
Evangelion follows Shinji, a teenage boy recruited by his father to operate giant bio-mechanic mecha ” Evangelion “, fifteen years after a worldwide cataclysm in the fortified city Tokyo-3. The fight against “Angels” to stop them from causing any more cataclysms. Later Shinji finds out about his father’s true nature and his bad deeds.
The Twitter account mentioned that the screening in 15 theatres in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo are cancelled. It’s the second time this film’s release is facing a delay. The original release date of the film was June 27, 2020. The state of Emergency is in place till 7 February. Theaters will close by 8:00 P.M. and will limit their audience to 50% of their seating capacity.
