Niigata International Animation Film Festival, which is scheduled to hold its first edition in March 2023, released new information about the festival on November 1. It has also started accepting entries for the competition section, which will be the highlight of the festival.
Furthermore, the official website was made public and an official Twitter account was also created. The award function will be held next year during spring.
The competition will have feature-length animated films out of which 10 films will be nominated from among the entries. The awards are as follows: Grand Prix, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Music, Best Audience Award and other awards.
The director of Ghost in The Shell, Mamoru Oshii, will be present as the jury president.
The requirement to enter the competition is that the movie should be 40 minutes or more and should completed after 2020. Whereas, movies that are not in Japanese or English must have English subtitles at the time of submission.
The entries are open from November 1 to December 23, 2022. More details can be found on the festival’s official website.
