The official YouTube channel of Twin Engine revealed in an announcement video on Sep 5, 2022, that Ancient Magus’ Bride anime will be getting a second season.

A new teaser video too was included in the announcement video. Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 will be broadcast from April 2023 on TOKYO MX and BS11. It will also stream in Japan on Amazon Prime Video and Hikari TV.

The announcement video features voice actors Atsumi Tanezaki, who voices Chise Hatori in the anime, and Ryota Takeuchi, who voices Elias Ainsworth. Director Kazuaki Terasawa and character designer Hirotaka Kato too are present in the announcement video.

Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 will be set in London, where Chise will be attending college. A key visual too was revealed.

Additionally, special illustrations were made by original author Kore Yamazaki, Terazawa and chief animation director Kohei Tokuoka to commemorate the announcement of second season.

The teaser video also revealed the cast and the staff who will be a part of the second season. Studio Kafka will be in charge of animation.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride is a manga written and illustrated by Kore Yamazaki, with its chapters collected into 17 volumes as of March 2022. It began serialization in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade magazine from November 2013. It was shifted to Monthly Comic Garden after September 2014 when Comic Blade magazine ceased publishing.

The manga is licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment.

A three-part prequel anime OVA was produced by Wit Studio and an anime television series aired from October 2017 to March 2018.

An original three-part OVA series by Studio Kafka was released in September 2021.
