DaVinci x NicoNico sponsored annual manga award event, “Next Manga Award (Tsugi ni Kuru Award),” has started accepting entries from May 11, 2022, with the deadline on May 25.
In order for a series to be eligible, it must have less than five volumes published. A single applicant can submit up to five works in either of comics category or web manga category. The final decision will be made by user votes.
The final nominees will be selected between May 25 (Wed) 11:00~June 24 (Fri) 11:00 (JST). Following the selection, voting will start from June 24 (Fri) 11:00~July 11 (Mon) 11:00 (JST).
The winners will be declared on Aug 31 on the official Next Manga Award website. Furthermore, on Sept 6, all the rankings for both categories will be posted.
Previously, Akasaka Aka and Yokoyari Mengo’s Oshi no Ko manga and Naoya Matsumoto‘s Kaiju No. 8 won the first place in physical print and web manga category in 2021.
The Apothecary Diaries by Itsuki Nanao, Natsu Hyūga, and Nekokurage, and Undead Unluck by Yoshifumi Tozuka won first place in the physical print category, while Spy × Family by Tatsuya Endo and The Dangers in My Heart by Norio Sakurai won the first place in Digital Web Manga category in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
The Next Manga Award is an annual award for manga series of Kadokawa Corporation’s Da Vinci magazine and Niconico streaming website. It comes in two categories: one for print manga, and one for web manga.
The award was originally established on Oct 6, 2014, as a collaboration between Kadokawa Corporation’s Da Vinci magazine and its Niconico streaming website. The award has two categories, the first is for physical publication of a series, and the second for series published online.
