The official Twitter account of the live-action Hollywood adaptation of Saint Seiya manga, titled Knights of the Zodiac, revealed a new trailer for the film on Dec 2, 2022.
“The time has come for a new beginning… Pegasus will rise,” the tweet read.
The film is set to release in 2023.
Japanese-American actor Mackenyu will be the leading actor “Pegasus Seiya” (Seiya), Madison Iseman will star as Saori (Sienna), Sean Bean is the recruiter of the Knights and Seiya’s mentor Alman Kiddo; other actors include Famke Janssen, Nick Stahl, Diego Tinoco, and Mark Dacascos.
Tomasz Baginski, the Polish animator and special effects wiz who has worked on The Witcher, is directing the movie that Toei is producing, with Andy Cheng as the action choreographer.
According to Andy, the film will have action sequences inspired by Andy’s works with Jackie Chan and Hollywood, and that Knights Of The Zodiac live action movie is more U.S centric compared to the anime.
It was previously revealed that the project had been in development for years and suffered several production delays before finally kicking off this year. Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken (10 Cloverfield Lane) wrote the most recent drafts of the script for Knights Of The Zodiac.
Toei will be responsible for distribution in Japan, while Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will distribute the film everywhere else, except for China and Middle East countries.
