World Trigger’s Stage Play Opens In Tokyo, Photos Released

The play will perform in Tokyo till Aug 14, 2022 before moving to Osaka.

World Trigger‘s stage play opened its performance with a show at Shinigawa Prince Hotel’s Stellar Ball in Tokyo on Aug 5, 2022. The play is titled ‘World Trigger The Stage: Large Scale Invasion’.

The play is adapting events from the Large Scale Invasion arc in the manga and features a host of characters and flashy battles.

The cast comments and images from the play have been released on the official website of the stage play.

World Trigger Stage Play will continue to play at Tokyo till Aug 14, 2022, after which it will move to the Sankei Hall Breeze in Osaka from Aug 19-21, 2022.

The play is scripted and directed by Norihito Nakayashiki, with Gira Mundo composing the music. The choreography for the stage play is handled by Yumebo.

The cast from the previous stage play are returning to reprise their roles, with new actors joining them for the second instalment.

The cast includes:

  • Takuya Mizuguchi as Osamu Mikumo
  • Arisa Sonohara as Chika Amatori
  • Kensuke Takahashi as Yuichi Jin
  • Himika Akaneya as Shiori Usami

  • Kawauchi Misato as Ai Kitora

Both Ueda and Mizukachi said in their comments that the team working on World Trigger Stage Play have done their best to deliver a performance worth remembering.

“We have prepared well to deliver a hot story with this worldview. We are determined to deliver the play with an exhilarating passion,” Ueda said.

“As this is a large-scale invasion episode, there are many flashy battles. I will deliver the performance energetically so that it lives up to the name,” Mizukachi said, urging the fans to enjoy the show.

Seijiro Nakamura, who plays the role of Hyrein in the stage play, wanted the fans to enjoy the play as much as the anime.

“I have seen “World Trigger” as an anime, and it was a work that I got more and more absorbed in as it progressed.
I will do my best to make sure that the audience will be able to get into the show on stage as well,” Nakamura’s comment read.

World Trigger also known in short form as WorTri, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Daisuke Ashihara. It was initially serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2013 to November 2018, and transferred to Jump Square in December 2018.

Its chapters have been compiled by Shueisha into 24 tankōbon volumes as of December 2021. In North America, the manga has been licensed for English release by Viz Media.

An anime television series adaptation produced by Toei Animation was aired on TV Asahi from October 2014 to April 2016. A second season aired from January to April 2021, and a third season aired from October 2021 to January 2022.
