A day after author Tatsuya Matsuki was arrested on charges of indecent acts on underage girl, Viz Media has removed the chapter update for the next chapter of Act-age manga from its schedule. However, Manga Plus app from Shueisha still shows chapter 123 is set to be released on Monday.
Shueisha’s Editorial department had released a statement earlier saying that they will be taking appropriate action after investigating the incident closely. While the futures of Act-Age manga and Matsuki seems to be in jeopardy (if Shueisha confirms that the allegations are indeed true), fans are pouring there support for the young illustrator of the series, Shiro Usazaki, wondering what he will do in the future.
Matsuki was arrested on Aug. 8 and charged by the Metropolitan Police Department with indecent acts on teenage girls.
On June 18, a man resembling Matsuki assaulted a junior highschool girl in Nakano ward of Tokyo. According to the cops, the suspect approached the girl around 8:00 p.m from behind on his bicycle and touched her inappropriately, NHK reported. The suspect later fled the scene on his bicycle. The suspect was reported to have assaulted atleast one more teenage girl in the same area. The second assault was done roughly an hour after the first one took place.
Official statements concerning the publication of Act-Age manga is bound to be released soon. Act-Age began serialisation inShueisha’s Shonen Jump from Jan. 2018 and is still ongoing. It was nominated for Kodansha’s 43rd annual Manga Awards last year, and is inspiring a stage play that will premiere in 2022, ANN reported.
