Yoshihiro Togashi, the author of Hunter x Hunter manga, revealed a new Kurapika illustration on his Twitter account on July 25, 2022; making it the first proper character illustration he has revealed since he joined the micro-blogging platform.
Ever since he joined Twitter, Togashi has been consistently uploading images of his roughly drawn, often undecipherable, manuscripts on to micro-blogging site with page numbers written on the bottom.
In most of his previously uploaded manuscripts, fans were left guessing which character Togashi might be drawing.
So it came as no surprise that the Kurapika illustration went viral in no time, as the tweet garnered plenty of likes and comments.
At the time of writing, the tweet has over 882,000 likes and over 130,000 retweets.
Fans expressed their excitement in the comments that the author finally uploaded the manuscript featuring a complete character. They were also overjoyed to know that Kurapika will be returning in Hunter x Hunter.
A lot of others thanked Togashi, hoping that the Kurapika illustration is a first in many that is set to follow.
In a later update, Togashi said that he will be working on more new chapters of Hunter x Hunter, as he finished penning the manuscript for the initial batch of 10 chapters.
There has been no concrete date set for the manga’s return nor the time it will take for the manuscripts to be made into chapters. Neither Shueisha nor Shonen Jump have released an official statement about Hunter x Hunter manga returning from hiatus.
Hunter x Hunter written and illustrated by Togashi, has been serialized in Shonen Jump since March 1998. The manga had its fair share of hiatuses since 2006. The last chapter of Hunter x Hunter released on November 2018, and has since been on a hiatus till now.
The manga’s chapters have been collected into 34 tankobon volumes.
