Toei Streams Two Mysterious Trailers From Mizuki Tsujimura’s Anime Supremacy Novel

Both anime films will release in 2022.

The Toei Film YouTube channel began streaming two trailers for two unannounced anime films which likely belong to mystery author Mizuki Tsujimura‘s Anime Supremacy (Haken Anime!) novel.

Both anime films will release in 2022.

The first trailer is for the Soundback: Kanade no Ishi robot anime, which is the directorial debut for Hitomi Saito, a character in the novel.

The second trailer (above) introduces Unmei Sensen Liddle-Light, an anime film from director Chiharu Ouji, who, according to the description of the video, previously directed the film Hikari no Yosuga, though no mention of that film exists online.

Magazine House published Tsujimura’s Anime Supremacy novel with illustrations by CLAMP in August 2014.

Vertical released the novel in September 2017 and describes the plot as:

Japanese animation—the globally acclaimed, family-friendly theatrical features are the exception rather than the rule for a TV-oriented industry that has been pushed into late-night slots in an era of fragmented audiences. When only three titles among fifty might turn a profit, topping the charts is hardly an overambitious aim.

Yet as three women, a producer, a director, and an animator, survive in a business infamous for its murderous schedules, demoralizing compromises, and incorrigible men, moments of uplift emerge against all odds—and how. More than just a window into an entertainment niche, here’s a kickass ode to work.
