The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge Of Edinburgh Part I Film Unveils Character Designs, Cast, December Debut

The film will follow an original story by the author himself and will focus on Tristan.

Netflix’s Geeked Week livestream on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, announced that Part 1 of the two-part film project titled The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh (Nanatsu no Taizai: Ensa no Edinburgh) will debut on Netflix in December. No information on Part 2 has been revealed yet.

The cast includes Mikako Komatsu as Meliodas’ son Tristan. Komatsu will voice Tristan as a boy, while Ayumu Murase will voice Tristan as a teenager. Yuki Kaji will reprise his role as Meliodas.

Netflix has also unveiled designs and production sketches of the characters that will appear in the movie, including its main protagonist, Tristan Liones, who is the young son of the original Seven Deadly Sins‘ central leads, Meliodas and Elizabeth.


The film will follow an original story by the author himself and will focus on Tristan. The official website describes the plot as:

Tristan inherits the power of the Goddess Clan and can heal people’s wounds and injuries, but he often ends up hurting others due to his inability to control his Demon Clan power. To protect his family, Tristan heads to Edinburgh Castle and meets a host of new friends along the way.

Previously in November 2021, the franchise released a teaser trailer along with the animation adaptation announcement.

In addition, The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga will be adapted into a TV anime. No additional information is known as yet.

The Seven Deadly Sins is a Japanese fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine from October 2012 to March 2020, with the chapters collected into 41 tankōbon volumes. The manga has been licensed by Kodansha USA for English publication in North America, while the chapters were released digitally by Crunchyroll in over 170 countries as they were published in Japan.

A-1 Pictures adapted the series into a two-season anime television series, which ran from October 2014 to June 2018, and one theatrical film, Prisoners of the Sky. Studio Deen produced two further seasons that ran from October 2019 to June 2021 and a second theatrical film, Cursed by Light. Netflix acquired the exclusive English streaming rights to the anime while Funimation licensed the home video rights to the first season.

As of March 2020, The Seven Deadly Sins had over 37 million copies in circulation. The manga won the 39th Kodansha Manga Award for the shōnen category in 2015.
