The Elusive Samurai is officially set to return with a second anime season in July 2026. The announcement was made on Dec 21 during a stage event at Jump Festa 2026, where a new teaser visual and a short promotional video were also unveiled.
The visual introduces Mima, a new character who will debut in the upcoming season.

It was also revealed that season 1 will be rebroadcast in April 2026 on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block. Following the rebroadcast, the series will continue uninterrupted with season 2.
The anime is based on the manga The Elusive Samurai, written and illustrated by Yusei Matsui, best known for Assassination Classroom and Neuro: Supernatural Detective. The manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in January 2021 and has since surpassed 4.5 million copies in circulation.
In North America, the manga is licensed for English release by Viz Media. Shueisha also simulpublishes the series in English on the Manga Plus platform.
Viz Media describes the plot of the manga as:
After the massacre of his family by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki flees with the help of a handful of loyal retainers who have also survived the purge. One of them is Suwa Yorishige, an ally of the Hojo clan and lord of Suwa Province. The slightly odd Yorishige also claims to be clairvoyant and foretells that Tokiyuki will one day become the ruler of Japan. But for the moment, escaping from enemy territory is the priority!
The anime’s first season premiered in July 2024 and was produced by CloverWorks. Yuta Yamazaki, who previously served as assistant director on Wonder Egg Priority and series director for both Love Rice series, directed the season. Yasushi Nishiya, known for his work as chief animation director on Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! and Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, handled the character designs.
