The official X account for Monthly Big Gangan magazine announced that The Apothecary Diaries manga is on hiatus and did not appear in the magazine’s 2025 Volume 06 issue, which was released on May 23.
The manga will return in Monthly Big Gangan 2025 vol. 07, which is set to be released on June 25, 2025.
Despite the manga’s absence, it was revealed that the issue included The Apothecary Diaries clear file bonus item as planned.

Due to various circumstances, The Apothecary Diaries, which was scheduled to be published in Monthly Big Gangan 2025 Vol.06 (on sale Friday, May 23), will be on hiatus in this issue. We sincerely apologize to all readers who have been looking forward to it.

The series is scheduled to resume in the next issue, Monthly Big Gangan 2025 Vol.07, which will be released on Wednesday, June 25.

Illustrator Nekokurage later posted on X that she had contracted both strep throat and whooping cough during the manuscript period, and her condition worsened, leading to the hiatus
The new issue of BG releasing tomorrow will be on hiatus, as my health took a turn for the worse during the manuscript period due to being infected with both strep throat and whooping cough. I’m very sorry…!

The Apothecary Diaries manga adaptation by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage, which is based on the LN series by Natsu Hyuga, began serializing in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan on May 25, 2017.
The first volume was published on Sep 25, 2017. As of March 25, 2025, 15 volumes have been published.
In November 2019, Square Enix announced the English language release of the manga in North America and began publishing it in December 2020.
An alternative manga adaptation, titled The Apothecary Diaries: Maomao’s Notes From The Inner Palace, illustrated by Minoji Kurata, began in Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday Gene-X on August 19, 2017.
The first volume was published on Feb 19, 2018. As of May 19, 2025, 20 volumes have been published.
A spin-off manga centered around Xiaolan’s point of view, illustrated by Itsuki Nanao, titled The Apothecary Diaries Gaiden: Xiaolan Kaisoroku, began serialization on Square Enix’s Manga Up! manga service on March 23, 2025.
The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino. Since 2011, it has been serialized online on the user-generated novel publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro.
In the following year, it was acquired by Shufunotomo, who initially published the series as a novel with a single volume in 2012 and then as a light novel series in 2014.
