Fuse has revealed that he wants to end his That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime light novel series with its next volume (vol. 23), potentially releasing this year.
The revelation came via a blog post and the afterword of the series’ 22nd volume, though Fuse cautioned that the finale remains tentative due to ongoing story developments.
In the afterword, Fuse stated that he originally intended to end the series with this installment but decided to continue after developing additional scenarios and receiving encouragement from his editor.
The author reiterated this in a blog post on Jan 30, 2025, where talked about wrapping up the story in the next volume.
However, he noted that nothing is set in stone, and he remains focused on delivering an enjoyable finale.
Fuse also humorously admitted to concerns about overlooking plot threads in the final volume, noting that missing elements could be addressed in post-conclusion bonus stories.

It’s been a while!
A lot of things were released simultaneously today!!Now, about the main story book.
As I mentioned before, the conclusion has been postponed. But I have a feeling that the next volume might be the one!
Nothing is set in stone, so I can’t say for sure, but at the very least, I’ll do my best to make it an enjoyable work!!Since it’s the final volume, I’m already nervous about possibly forgetting something (lol).
In the worst case, I’ll make up for anything missing with a bonus story after the conclusion.

That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah.
The light novel series entered its final arc in March 2019 with the release of its 18th volume.
It was serialized online from 2013 to 2016 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro. It was later acquired by Micro Magazine, which published the first light novel volume in 2014. Twenty-two volumes have been released as of January 2025.
The light novel has been licensed in North America by Yen Press.
It has received a manga adaptation published by Kodansha along with five manga spin-offs published, respectively, by Micro Magazine and Kodansha, and an anime television series adaptation produced by Eight Bit, which aired from October 2018 to March 2019.
A second season of the anime series aired from January to September 2021, and an anime adaptation of the second spin-off manga aired from April to June 2021. An anime film was released in November 2022.
A three-episode original net animation spin-off titled Visions Of Coleus was released in November 2023. A third season aired from April to September 2024.
A fourth season has been announced, along with a second film.
