Taketo Tanaka Joins Cast Of Tokyo Revengers 2 Live-Action Film As Chome

The first part of the movie will release on April 21, 2023, while the second part on June 30, 2023.

Actor Taketo Tanaka revealed on his official Instagram account on Feb 3, 2023, that he will play the role of one of the captains of Valhalla, named Chome, in Tokyo Revengers 2. Based on Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers manga, Tokyo Revengers 2 is a two-part sequel live-action film.

The first part of the movie will release on April 21, 2023, while the second part on June 30, 2023.

The first part of the film is titled Tokyo Revengers 2 Chi no Halloween-hen -Unmei- (Bloody Halloween Arc -Fate-), and the second part, Tokyo Revengers 2 Chi no Halloween-hen -Kessen- (Bloody Halloween Arc -Decisive Battle-).

SUPER BEAVER performed the theme song “Gradation,” which will be used in the first part of the film.

Previously announced cast includes:

  • Kento Nagayama as Keisuke Baji
  • Nijiro Murakami as Kazutora Hanemiya
  • Mahiro Takasugi as Chifuyu Matsuno

The staff and cast who worked in the first live-action film will reprise their roles for Tokyo Revengers 2, with new cast members joining the team.

Tsutomu Hanabusa will be directing the sequel film, with Shota Okada producing it.

Takumi Kitamura, Ryo Yoshizawa, and Yuki Yamada will reprise their roles for Takemichi, Mikey and Draken respectively. More info on cast and staff are yet to be released.

The first Tokyo Revengers live-action film adaptation released in Japan on July 9, 2021.

The film was originally slated to open in Japan on Oct 9 2020, but was delayed to 2021 due to the spread of COVID-19 in Japan.

Tokyo Revengers is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since March 2017. An anime television series adaptation by Liden Films aired from April to September 2021. A second season is set to premiere in January 2023.

As of July 2022, the manga had over 65 million copies in circulation, including 7 million copies outside of Japan. The manga won the 44th Kodansha Manga Award for the shonen category in 2020.
