The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Shonen Jump Plus revealed on Dec 9, 2024, that Taizan 5’s Takopi’s Original Sin manga is getting an anime adaptation.
The manga is revered by readers as a dark and emotionally charged series which does not shy away from difficult topics. During its run, it managed to attract a record number of readers on the Shonen Jump+ platform.
A key visual and a teaser video were revealed along with the announcement. TBS is involved in the planning and production of the series.
Additional details about the anime adaptation will be revealed at Jump Festa 2025 on Dec 22, 2024.

The author Taizan fan thanked the fans for their support and expressed his excitement at the anime adaptation being announced.
He also revealed a special illustration to commemorate the announcement.

Manga Plus describes the plot of the series as follows:
Takopi travels from his home of Happy Planet to spread happiness across Earth, but meets the unsmiling Shizuka upon landing. Her friends at school and home life seem to be the source of her somber expression, and the pure-hearted Takopi is determined to change things for the better! But what truths await him when the curtains rise in this shocking drama?!
Takopi’s Original Sin was published on Shonen Jump+ platform in 2021. The manga’s chapters were collected into 2 tankobon volumes.
It was ranked third in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi’s 2023 edition and had surpassed 1.4 million copies in circulation.
After writing Takopi’s Original Sin, Taizan 5 went on to serialize The Ichinose Family’s Deadly Sins on Weekly Shonen Jump.
