Studio Khara and Sunrise have announced a brand new anime series in the Gundam franchise, titled Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.
This marks the first joint project between the two studios, with Kazuya Tsurumaki, who served as an assistant director under Hideaki Anno for Evangelion, directing the series.
Yoji Enokido (Sailor Moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion) will handle series composition, co-writing the screenplay with Anno. Mechanical designs will be handled by Ikuto Yamashita.
A teaser and key visual were revealed to commemorate the announcement.
The main cast members for the anime have also been revealed. Check them out below:
- Tomoyo Kurosawa as Amate Yuzuriha
- Yui Ishikawa as Nyaan
- Shimba Tsuchiya as Shuji Ito
The story of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX revolves around illegal Mobile Suit dueling competitions known as “Clan Battles.” High school girl Amate Yuzuriha, who lives peacefully in a space colony, encounters Nyann, a girl who is a war refugee.
This meeting leads her to pilot the GQuuuuuuX and immerse herself in the world of “Clan Battles.” The mysterious Mobile Suit Gundam and its pilot, a boy named Shuji, have also been revealed as key elements of the story.
