Popular spring anime Spy x Family has announced their first stage play to be performed in Spring-2023, and for that auditions have started from May 2022. However, due to some special requirements, the casting of the character Anya Forger has slowed down.
Other than the child actors being able to attend rehearsals and performances during the specified period, the applicant should be “any age, between 70cm and 100cm tall (height limit is a guide only. Growth before and after application will be taken into account, so no problem if current height is within a few 10 cm difference) and must be good at acting, singing and dancing”.
These specifications have attracted attention and raised concerns among the Japanese mothers looking forward to sending their daughters for the audition.
According to Japanese statistics, the average height of a 4-5-year-old girl is 100-110 cm which barely meets the height hurdle. On the other hand, child actors, like singer Nonoka Murakata (3 years old) is about 90 cm tall but people are concerned if a girl of that age can act and dance on stage for a long time.
Due to such complications, various comments regarding the matter stated it was “impossible” to find a perfect Anya. A few comments even stated this mission is harder than entering Eden College!

The story follows a spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realizing that the girl he adopts as a daughter and the woman he agrees to be in a fake marriage with are a mind reader and an assassin, respectively.
