Sony YAY! has announced a special Shin chan movie marathon starting Dec 14, 2024. The channel will air a new movie every Saturday at 1 p.m.
The schedule includes:
- Dec 14: The Singing Bomb – Shin chan’s off-key singing leads to laughter and chaos.
- Dec 21: DanceAmigo – Watch Shin chan show off his quirky dance moves.
- Dec 28: Buri Buri 3 Minutes Charge – Shin chan’s quick thinking saves the day in a hilarious adventure.
- Jan 4: The Adventures of Kasukabe Boys – A fun-filled journey with Shin chan and his friends.
On April 18, 2024, Sony YAY! announced that Shin chan would be added to its programming lineup as part of the channel’s seventh-anniversary celebrations. The channel revealed plans to air never-before-seen episodes and movies of the anime series, available in five languages: Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali.
In an interview with Animehunch, Ronojoy Chakraborty, Head of Programming at Sony YAY!, discussed the broadcaster’s broader strategy for anime acquisition and hinted at plans to secure more titles in the future.
Naruto achieved unprecedented success on Sony YAY!, amassing over 63.2 million viewers across India.
In the interview, Chakraborty stressed the importance of engaging audiences of all ages, from young children to teens and young adults, by offering a wide variety of programming.
Shows like Shin chan (which incidentally is an anime) and original productions such as Honey Bunny Ka Jholmaal are part of this effort, creating a diverse entertainment platform that appeals to viewers across different states and languages.
Sony YAY! aims to continue growing its footprint in the Indian animation market by offering a diverse selection of shows that resonate with audiences, whether they are anime, homegrown cartoons, or international animated series.
