The anime adaptation of Solo Leveling has won the Best Anime Series Award in the Astra TV Awards category.

It beat off competition from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Pluto, Ninja Kamui, Blue Eye Samurai, and Scott Pilgrim to the win.

Aleks Le, the English dub voice actor for Sung Jinwoo, accepted the award on behalf of Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, and Crunchyroll during the ceremony held on Dec 8, 2024, at Avalon Hollywood.

A special message from the director Shunsuke Nagashike and producer Sota Furuhashi was also displayed during the event.

Solo Leveling is only the second anime to receive an Astra Award, following Attack on Titan, which made history in January 2024 as the first anime series to win the accolade.

The first season of Solo Leveling anime aired from January to March 2024. A second season is set to premiere in January 2025.

Crunchyroll streamed the first season in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India.

Medialink licensed the series in Southeast Asia and Oceania (except Australia and New Zealand).

The Astra Awards recognize and celebrate the best in film, television, and the creative arts. Members of the Hollywood Creative Alliance, which includes critics, entertainment journalists, content creators, industry insiders, and creatives, vote on the awards.

Hayao Miyazaki had also been bestowed with Astra Award for Best International Filmmaker on Jan 6, 2024.

Solo Leveling‘s anime has been adapted from the South Korean web novel of the same name written by Chugong.

It was serialized in Kakao’s digital comic and fiction platform KakaoPage beginning on July 25, 2016, and was later published by D&C Media under their Papyrus label since November 4, 2016.

The novel has been licensed in English by Yen Press.

A webtoon adaptation of Solo Leveling was first serialized in KakaoPage on March 4, 2018; it was illustrated by Jang Sung-rak (Dubu).

The webtoon’s first season concluded on March 19, 2020, and its second season was released from August 2020 to December 2021. Its individual chapters have been collected and published by D&C Media in eleven volumes as of June 2024.

A Korean drama adaptation is in development, and spin-off webtoon Solo Leveling: Ragnarok premiered in August 2024.
