Shueisha Launches Shueisha Games Company

The new company will also encourage collaboration between developers of smartphone games with original concepts and character designs from manga creators from Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

Publishing giant Shueisha announced in a press release on Thursday, March 31, 2022, that it had launched a new wholly-owned affiliated brand, Shueisha Games on Feb 16, 2022.

The new company will encourage collaboration between developers of smartphone games with original concepts and character designs from manga creators from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

The first four titles that will be released under the brand will be Oni by Kenei Design, Hatena no Tō -Tower of Children- by Tasto Alpha, and Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions by Momo-pi Studio set to release by the end of this year while Ukiyo by Seaknot Studios is scheduled to release in 2023. The developer also lists the Bleach: Kantōka Karuta game.

Along with the establishment of Shueisha Games, the company has unveiled a new logo and a teaser for the upcoming IPs.

In addition, a second teaser reveals a competitive multiplayer game that will be co-published with a major Japanese publisher and developed by a relevant Japanese developer. The company defined it as a “multiplayer trick speed action” game.

Shueisha Games is essentially an expansion into a full-fledged brand of the Shueisha Game Creators CAMP’s game development initiatives.

4000 developers have registered with the Game Creator CAMP and the number of supported games has passed 10, including unannounced ones.

The brand’s goal is to combine the publishing industry’s ability to find and cultivate new talent with the power of the gaming industry. Shueisha Games aims to create new games that haven’t been seen before by combining these two elements and taking on the challenge of spreading them globally, especially in Japan and other Asian countries.
