The official website for the Rent-A-Girlfriend live-action series announced on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, that fashion model Shiori Akita will star as Kazuya’s former girlfriend, Mami Nanami.
She shared her thoughts on playing Mami-chan, saying, “I hope that the drama will retain the charm of the original manga while conveying its unique and interesting aspects. I have never played a character like this before, so I am trying to find my way through trial and error every day while filming. I would be happy if you look at Asami and think,’ I hate her!’ (Laughs). “
The previously revealed main cast includes Tokyo Ghoul live-action fame Hiyori Sakurada and Naniwa Danshi idol group member Ryusei Onishi as Mizuhara Chizuru and Kazuya Kinoshita respectively.
In addition, to celebrate Kazuya’s birthday on May 31, original author Reiji Miyajima posted a special collaboration illustration of the male protagonist and Onishi for the upcoming TV drama adaptation.
Recently a debate went off on the internet claiming Onishi is ‘too handsome’ for the role of Kazuya.
The series will air on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation TV channel on Sunday 11:55 PM and on TV Asahi on Sunday at 2:30 AM.
