Shaft Animator Hiroto Nagata Breaks Down On Twitter Over Industry Pressure

Hiroto Nagata, an animator at Shaft, has revealed the extreme pressure he faces at work, causing concerns among fans.

In the now-deleted tweet, Nagata revealed the intense pressure he faces in his job, expressing that he has been brought to tears while working due to fears of being erased from the industry if he failed to meet deadlines.

The distress stemmed from the warning issued to him by the production team that if he doesn’t do his work well then he’ll be blacklisted from the industry.

The production team warned, ‘If this doesn’t go well, you’ll be erased from the industry.’ So, I tell myself, ‘I have to do my best, or else I’ll be erased,’ and I work while crying. I want to say, ‘If you hadn’t thrown another job at me at the last minute, we wouldn’t be in this situation. I told you it was impossible,’ but I swallow my words. There’s no point in arguing with the production team right now.

Prior to this revelation, Nagata shared an experience in which he dreamed of being strangled by a colleague.

Even after waking, he continued to experience a suffocating sensation, prompting a visit to the hospital to ensure his physical well-being.

I dreamed about getting strangled by a person in my company and even after I woke up it still hurts for some reason. Since that day I’ve had this suffocating feeling, as if someone was pressing on my throat. Of course, I got worried and went to the hospital to get it checked, but there was nothing wrong with it. What is this…

Hiroto Nagata is known for his work in Fireworks (2017), Kizumonogatari Part 3: Reiketsu (2017), and Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story (2020).
